move sobotka, sheary, scandella and use that money to sign karlsson
let gus and lockport larry walk

skinner, eichel, stone
tage, casey-skunk
smith, brandon tanev, stinklander
3 random guys

dahlin-karlsson
pilut-risto
mccabe-bogo

And what team in their right mind would want Sheary, Sobotka and Scandella? And your idea of Gus and Larry walking won't happen. They're strapped to the 4th line and come pretty cheap imo.

I am sure teams would take sheary and scandella for a late pick

sobotka might be a little tricky

gomez got traded so anything can happen

True, anything can happen. Just not sure they would make all those moves to get EK.

I will say this, something I have thought about. When they sign Skinner, it could be seen by free agents and players with NTC/NMC that maybe Buffalo could be a destination for some.

I would rather add 2 impact players and let the scrubs go

Never in a hundred billion years happen with botts as gm.... so your giving up 8 nhl players for 1 maybe two if the 2nd works out... hard pass hard hard pass

Baptiste was traded... (edit nevermind)

- gordong

Multiple ways to look at it, and I agree...highly, highly unlikely it would happen.

But, here's my points:
-Okposo's contract is a killer long-term, will force some hard decisions
-Okposo ain't producing at all, zero, zip, nada. ... so he is an "NHL player" by title only
-Okposo is taking a spot from a prospect, and will for 4 more years after this
-Okposo will be a very, very costly 3rd liner and an unaffordable 4th liner as he decline from here
-getting rid of Okposo' albatros contract will cause some pain...a 1st+ is likley required
-Sheary is struggling to produce, worse than Okposo is...he isn't as expensive but would be for a 4th liner that he is producing like...maybe a change of scenery could jump start him?
-Guhle's star is fading here as he continues to struggle a bit in the AHL...maybe another GM sees high potential
-Sabres have plenty of LhD-men making Guhle expendable
- Nylander is what Nylander is. I personally have zero confidence he makes it to be a productive NHLer
-it is Nylander or Asplund, not both. With Eichel, Seguin and Middlestadt down the center, Asplund becomes redundant with Davidson, Larsson, Malone and others as 4C. He may have higher value at this point than Nylander...let the Stars choose for added value.

Edit,
Eichel and Seguin at 1a and 1b compares favorably to Mathews and Tavares, and Point and Stamkos .. two teams Sabres will be battling for years.
, Mits breaks that wide open!
You win down the middle.
Still retain Tage, Oloffson, Smifh and 2 1st to votify wing positions

In my earlier post about the roster for next year, I do get rid of scrubs Hunwick, Wilson and Beaulieau to either waivers/trade or in Blowu's case, he doesn't get his qualifying offer.

I was out with friends last night. One of them juat grafuated from Lakehead University last year in Thunder Bay. Her boyfriend is childhood friends with Matt Murray, he was showing me pictures of them drinking out of the cup together. He said he met Hutton (also from Thunder Bay) out and about with Murray and a bunch of his buddies. He said that Carter referred to them as “Murray’s entourage” the whole night and made up some nicknames for a few of the guys and was constently making jokes and throwing chirps around all in good fun. Hutton sounds like a really funny guy.

That's really cool

Hopefully Hutton let's Murray drink out of the cup when Buffalo wins

John Vogl:Zemgus Girgensons is week to week with an upper-body injury in blow to Sabres’ effective fourth line.

Lawrence Pilut and Matt Hunwick doing extra work after optional morning skate, so looks like they’re out tonight against Bruins.

That’s kinda true
But 14 & 20 are in the same group talent-wise
Guys like Konecny get picked in the 20s and guys like Girgs get picked in the teens just about every year

We aren’t talking about the super high end talent from your examples at the point we will be choosing
I’ll take the playoffs

- jdfitz77

This is a bad example. The strength of draft matters. EVERYONE (besides Murray) knew how great the 15 draft would be. the '12 draft was viewed as mediocre

It's not the same across the board

That's why jbotts traded a 6th this year for a 6th next year.

Everyone was completely bent out of shape.

Draft years are different.

6th rd pick is a lottery ticket, nothing more nothing less IN ANY NHL DRAFT

he did however go from the first pick in the 6th to probably the 25th or so pick in next years draft

only sense was he did not like anyone

Yes, jbotts clearly didn't like anyone last year.

If he projected this draft to be much deeper (which is his job) then why not trade the pick?

It wasnt a mistake, or cte like you were implying

Seguin is better then Skinner and Mitts will ever be, and I'm a huge Mittelstadt fan. Skinner has posted 60+ points in a season twice. Seguin does it every year with ease.
- Pegullaville

We could have had Seguin from Boston for Vanek and Foligno. That's a fact.

please explain then why in the same draft, 6th rd AFTER THE SABRES TRADE

the wings got a 5th rd 2019 pick for for their 6th rd pick in 2018 (acquired from habs) from the blue jackets

the nucks traded their 6th round pick in the 2018 draft to the caps, for the caps 6th round pick in 2018 and 2019

I would love to know how they got a MUCH better return on a later pick in the 6th round from the 2018 draft

please enlighten us all

Pontus Holmberg

Puck-possession winger with top-six upside
December 2018 – Holmberg has made Team Sweden for the upcoming WJCs, and is starting the tournament on the top line. This is a prime opportunity for an offensive breakout. Hayden Soboleski

December 2018 – One of the Leafs’ fastest-developing prospects, Holmberg is now being moved to the RW to get him on the top line, rather than playing 2C/3C. He has now played all three forward positions

Boss..in all honesty I would say rumour. But there was an offer on the table. I am not lying. This is coming from the Boston side.

Ok

Well maybe those opportunities weren't available to jbotts?

Maybe these teams didn't want to trade with buffalo?

The sabres scouts clearly didnt have a player they wanted at that draft position. They would have picked a prospect rather then trade the pick? Should have they just picked a "lottery ticket" ?

Everyone keeps talking about how deep this draft is. (2019)
Wonder if the gm of a professional hockey team knew this draft might be stronger?

I might be wrong? Just throwing it out there.
Different drafts have different value.

He also has 126 games left to change that sentiment. I think something closer to Reinhart’s bridge is more realistic then signing him for $1.2M.

Makes sense. I just dont think at this point worrying about his next contract is relevant. They should worry about finding a real 2/3c kind of guy to shelter him for those 126 games. Or get something other than okposo on his wing.

Yea they should. I think that’s more of an offseason move though but I could be wrong.
