Beautiful job by Gus there with the fake shot, buying time/space, and firing a great pass between two players to Kane for the one-timer.
He's simply the best offensive d-man on the team, and quite frankly, it's not even close. |

Gus to a covered Kane, 1-0. - I Am The Breadman
Across the slot, skate to stick by Kaner! Hawks score on their 1st shot. Strome with the secondary assist?.......... Man Delia looks so smooth, calm and efficient. Like this kid more as each period goes by. Square to everything and compact.

From an older blog:
Instead of using regular Corsi or Fenwick For Percentage, I like to look at Relative Corsi/Fenwick For Percentage instead. These relative percentages measure the change in Corsi or Fenwick when a player is on the ice versus when he's on the bench. If you're a bad player who is coasting off your teammates or a good player being dragged down by the skaters around you, the relative stats will do a better job of discovering that:

Thanks! Both sets of data show that Jokiharju has been a heck of a 19 year old, and may potentially be Keith’s replacement as the top D man for the Hawks. |

I wasn't a Gus supporter and ragged on him a crap ton, these past 5 or so games, he's impressed me. I don't mind eating my words. |

Delia has been brilliant. Hawks getting badly outskated in this game right now. |

The comedy team of Keith and Seabrook on the PK. Good 4th pairing for next year.....well maybe not. Olczyk still kissing Keith's behind as often as possible, even when he's slow and late getting back.

Hawks dont attack the puck on the PK. I dont understand it. When you do that, you allow the other team to dictate and do what they want.
They need to be more aggressive. |

Hawks outshot 15-4.
What a (frank)ing joke. Team is scuffling, they win a couple, lose a bad one, have a break, come off that break and play like this?
Just wow.
FOUR shots in 20 minutes. FOUR. That's only FOUR more than NONE. |

another all to frequent poor start...out shot 15-4...and the hawks asking their goalie to bear the burden and he is up to it...

You got it !!
Hawks must have the Christmas hangover. Out shot 15-4 with that comedy team on the ice for a lot of it.
The Wild flew in this morning, had a skate, and are looking ready to play.
Delia only Hawk showing up ??

It's true. His decision-making at the blue line isn't always great but when he's on the move, he's fun to watch and seems to have chemistry with Kane. He's worth keeping around. It's nice to have a couple of defensive oriented defensemen in Murphy and Dalhstrom on the team so they can take the starts on that end. Gus on the pp and O-zone starts makes sense. |

and one of those four - 25% of them - was by Saad from a bad angle with like 22 seconds left. |

That's the Blackhawk's system. Same in Rockford I presume.
Looks like it's a system change needed, not the coach.
WHO implemented this non-aggressive, no-check, puck possession system anyway ??? This team can not WIN with it any longer without the horses guys. |

With the talent assembled. Sorry folks, it's not the system, it's the team Bowman has assembled. We can circle jerk over the current juniors, but none of that is even close to being proven.
This team is not a good team, period. There are a few nice pieces, but who doesn't have that? Tell me ONE team that doesn't have 3 or 4 young guys and a couple prospects they can hang their hat on?
Home game, after a break, divisional rival and the only reason it's not 3-0 is because the goalie is playing his ass off. between the nets is a crock and the Wild are not even that good. |
