No . He did play with McDavid though, so who knows, maybe he'll get a look in the top 6. I think the world of Kahun, but imo he's better suited lower in the lineup. They could use a top 6 winger to play opposite of Toews. Maybe this guy makes some noise.

You are right about him getting some playing time in the top 6 in Edmonton and some guys are suited to move up and down the lineup. I think the reality is that the Hawks don't have 4 top 6 wingers. We have Kane, Saad, DeBrincat as actual viable top 6 wingers. If we could add a legit top 6 wing and maybe another good 3rd line forward, maybe then we have some depth going.

haha, elite prospects. His dad was the legendary coach of the OMHA Black, Sal Caggiula

Then lets plan the parade now.

Nothing exciting about this trade other than getting rid of Manning and his salary. Shocked he didn't have a NTC.

If he played with McDavid and couldn't stick, then how will he stick with Toews?

This is fools gold here I think. Not saying he won't contribute, but first line? Seriously?

- kwolf68

Pure optimism my friend. I have a buddy in EDM, and she said Caggiula has major upside but is bad defensively. Like Manning !

Haha. Ya the best part of this deal is Stan not retaining salary which is amazing. If Caggiula can contribute as well, that's an added bonus!

With adding Caggiula, it seems likely that Dylan Sikura would be going back to the AHL. He seems like he needs a year or two before he is ready for the NHL.

Blackhawks still need a top 6 winger, because Kahun isn't one, but they are starting to build up some bottom 6 depth.

Mayberry DeBrincat goes down? He’s ice time has been decreasing and he could use some seasoning in Rockford.

You are right. Only 7 goals in his last 10 games. Something must break the slump!

He's been so fun to watch, especially when he's hot. I love how he jumps into protect teammates. Smallest guy on the team, one of the toughest.

I liked this trade. Fixed the log jam for this season. Manning was a good guy, not a good hockey player. I respect him, and hope for the best. Now he can protect #97 over in Edm.....
Norell was on loan, hasn't been in Rock. No big loss there. Garrison, go to the Ahl, totally fine. Caggiula, bottom 6, fine by me. All I know is he hit a guy in the nuts during the playoffs.

I haven't read posts, I'm catching up now, sorry if I posted what most of you guys have already said. I had a party today. I want to say Happy New Year to everyone. Be safe and have a great time. I won't be around tomorrow, but I'll be back to talk WC with whoever is around. Slainte.

Drake Caggiula -"A smart, skilled, and gritty buzzsaw of a winger that gets up and down the ice with a focused drive. His mobility is elite, and his first three steps propel him to top speed quickly. Defensively, he is very active and can contain the opposition by limiting their chances in the slot. Offensively, he can be uncontainable, consistently displaying excellent vision and individual puck skills; can act as both the passer or the shooter in any given situation. An all-around game, rooted in his strong will to win and his ability to make the players around him better, is what he brings each and every night. Character is something built through tough situational battles and having to step up at key moments as a leader. Caggiula has the capacity to be that leader on and off the ice."

Left wing opposite of Toews and Saad

I'm assuming that this "scouting report" came out of John McShovel Face's office.

I agree getting rid of manning and his contract is nice. But the hawks now have 12 or 14 bottom 6 guys or so it seems. More moves need to happen.

Agree, they have some chips to offer, including 3 young D prospects that can be included in a good deal. Let's be honest, at least one will probably get traded since they are not going to have these young D men in the lineup at the same time. At least one can bring back something useful.

Also players who should be considered in deals are AA, Sikura, Perlini, Kruger, Forsling. Pray someone wants Seabrook's contract and if they trade Keith or CC, they better get a boatload.

Seems to be the opposite of what Oiler fans think of him. Kind of sounds like Skille 2.0

You got absolutely nothing in this deal. Not sure how much we got, Drake is young center with energy, OK. Not sure why they went after an aging D-man who was often a healthy scratch. Confusing.

What do you know of Norell? I already know what we are getting in manning....
- RatedR80

Norell is nothing more than AHL depth. Very little offense and mediocre on defense but actually plays physical for a small defender.

Ah PTO. I didn't know where he was. He is easily enough buried. Norell is like 10th on our D prospect list and Manning is simply awful.

Yea, I am thinking I like this trade.

- kwolf68

Ranking Norell 10th is quite generous (guessing that you were just being facetious). Probably not even top 15, maybe top 20. Here's a possible top 10:

Boqvist
Beaudin
Mitchell
Carlsson
Hillman
Krys
Galvas
Ryczek
Gilbert
Raddysh

Saad Toews Caiggula
Cat Strome Kane
Perlini Kampf Kahun

AA, Kruger, Hayden, Martinsen, Sikura...I still think AA gets traded, like soon.

- SoftServe

IMHO, Caggiula should be 4th line or else it spells a trend back to icing two 4th lines rather than true 3rd and 4th lines. As the roster stands today:

Saad - Toews - Kahun
DeBrincat - Strome - Kane
Anisimov - Kampf - Sikura
Perlini - Kruger - Caggiula

Blackhawks still need a top 6 winger, because Kahun isn't one, but they are starting to build up some bottom 6 depth.
- breadbag

Next year lose Kruger and replace him with Kampf. If Anisimov is still with the team, move him to 3C and find another top 6 winger to play with Saad and Toews so Kahun can play 3rd line with Anisimov and Sikura.

Saad - Toews - RW (Stone?)
DeBrincat - Strome - Kane
Kahun - Anisimov - Sikura
Perlini - Kampf - Caggiula

probably been mentioned..

stan unloads 2.5 mil and gains 1.5 in player that might actually have some contribute...

hopefully garrison sees very little time with the hawks cuz that would be very bad

Agree. Not sure how successful they will be but I imagine the Hawks will pursue the likes of Panarin, Stone, or Duchene for the top 6. Land one of them and that would bump Kahun down to the 3rd line along with Anisimov (assuming he's still a Hawk next season) and either Perlini, Sikura or another acquisition of a 3rd liner.

Perlini and Sikura have potential but ways to go yet I think both of them will trend upward as they get acclimated. Of the two, I think Sikura has the most upside to play middle 6 with Perlini being a solid 4th liner with capacity to play up a line if needed.

I don't know why this isn't the second line every game. That PP goal against Col showed why Kane and ADB should ALWAYS be on the same line!
