Justin hope your holidays went well ? Question who gets traded and do you keith being traded at the tdl or sooner or not at all? What would a trade look like if the hawks do trade keith or AA?
- Scott1977

I know you didn't ask me, but there is this:

John Jaeckel‏ @jaeckel · Dec 24

Hawk trade deadline sweeps: keep hearing Keith as most likely to be moved by 3/1.

This obviously does not mean that he will definitely be moved, but it is interesting to hear nonetheless.

Hi Justin - Do you think Seabs can/will be the 1st Captain of the Seattle Franchise? ?And, what are the chances Q becomes the 1st coach of that team?

Really hope they don't move Keith. Next year can be written off if they move him. A left side of Forsling, Dahlstrom, Manning/Mitchell/Krys/whoever is instant basement team material, even more than the Hawks are now.

I have high hopes for Boqvist, Mitchell, Beaudin, etc. but let's not pretend like they're going to take over the league immediately. Even Keith flopped around for a year or two before finding his game. Plus I don't think Kane, Toews, Saad, Seabrook would react particularly well to their foxhole buddy getting shipped out for picks.

I'm not really advocating a move either way (although, I personally think that moving out some of the "core" is a good idea), but it all depends on what the return is.

I hear you about young players, but we are already seeing some steps forward with guys like Murphy, Dahlstrom, even Gus is playing a bit better defensively.

Your last comment, from the perspective of running the team, I think is crap. You don't want to get moved out? Get together and play better as a team. You cannot let players dictate who does and does not get moved. Maybe if they didn't turn over the puck so much, blind back pass, and pinch at horrible times this year, Q would still be here and the core would be happy. They didn't, and if you are not going to bust your can to be a part of the solution, then I've got no problem moving pretty much anyone.

Poor Toews stuck with SAD again

Hopefully the great Stanley Bowman trades SAD soon

Waste of $6 million per year

Put 12 with 19 & leave 24 there or put 95 with 19 & 12

20 is not top 6 material

Boqvist would be best PP D-man on Hawks right now

Any chance the 'Hawks keep Crow, Keith, Seabrook, Toews and Kane on as 'elder skatesmen ' for their next run? If so, who is there/comes along to tip them into Cup contender status?
I think they are currently 1 top-line dman short, 1-2 top 6 forwards short and everything else is already in-house or in the pipeline. And I have Delia pegged as the next goaler after Crow calls it a day.

Mailbag question - we (and I mean “we”, not just Stan and Co.) think we’ve got good prospects in the system - and some in the Show....

But how do they really compare against other team’s young’ins? Are front offices and fans in other cities as happy (or at least optimistic) about their teams’ futures? What do the pros say?

Probably unanswerable at this point.

Can we please stop giving a $hit about the feelings of the remaining core players once one of them gets shipped out? This is a business and these guys are getting paid a ridiculous amount of money to play a game with whomever the GM fills the roster with.

Not if the hawks are rebuilding keep toews Seabrook only because cannot move his contract kane dcat strome hayden kampf joki murphy trade the rest. Rebuild for the future need top 6 forward talent in the system. Were good defense depth goaltending depth is much better bottom 6 depth is good. If hawks can get 3 first round picks or couple 2nd rounders in this upcoming draft need center depth desperately and speed and size on the wings.

Perlini has looked much better the last several games. His skill set reminds me some what of a young Brandon Saad ..... has speed to go with good size and is defensively responsible. Perlini probably has a better shot than Saad. Height and weight wise they are similar

Lol. I dunno. Saad is pretty darn good on his edges for a bigger guy and established himself as a top 6 player pretty quickly. Nice hands, good in all three zones.

Perilini can skate really good in straight line. Thats about it lol. Accidentally score 20 goals. I think his high pick was more about the athlete then the player. Saad came in close to a finished product while Perilini is closer to an energy guy that can provide some depth scoring at this point with some potential to be more based on his athletic gifts.

“Sixth defenseman: Brent Seabrook has played the fewest 5-on-5 minutes among the Blackhawks’ defensemen in each of the past five games. Keith has played a team-high 94:27 of 5-on-5 ice time in the last five games, and Seabrook has played 62:31. The lack of ice time hasn’t exactly helped Seabrook. In the past five games, he has a 37.61 Corsi percentage and has been on the ice for three goals for and four goals against.

For the season, Seabrook is among the bottom 50 players in the league in Corsi against per 60 minutes, shots against per 60, scoring chances against per 60 and goals against per 60.”

More from Powers:

“Leaning on Murphy: Since returning from injury nine games ago, Connor Murphy has quickly become one of Colliton’s favorite defensemen. Murphy is second to only Duncan Keith in 5-on-5 ice time over the past nine games. In that span, Murphy has a plus-4.22 relative Corsi and has been on the ice for 10 goals for and seven goals against. In the last seven games, Murphy also leads the Blackhawks with five points in 5-on-5 play.”

Not as projectable as baseball. Kind of like basketball in that kids or Europeans to pros doesn't necessarily translate as expected.

No one seemed high on Barrett until he started beating ass this year. Literally. Some of his highlights are hilarious. He runs dudes and his mouth constantly. Andrew Shaw type low end and Dave Bolland before back surgery on the high.

Wise a "steal" until he was meh and got injured.

I think the Hawks have 1 elite level talent in Bovqist. Hes just too much of an athlete and has too much skill to not be good. 1 very good one in Beaudin. And two could be good in Barret and Mitchell. Everyone else meh until they start playing against men.

Probably light compared to other teams.

This kinda indicates to me he might have been playing hurt last year and the surgery to correct that has been successful. He looks better out there than last year too.

Ha. That it did. Cool town for the most part. I enjoy visiting there. Lots around the city national and state park wise.

Can be irritating to try and get around with the traffic and lack of decent public transportation. That staduim is in a horrid spot parking and traffic wise.

Could be or maybe he is just finally ready to live up to his potential. That would be a big boost for the Hawks if he can.

Exactly i don't trade bad contract for bad contract so unless hawks retain money 2 to 3 million then cannot see Seabrook getting traded plus i m not giving up a pick or prospect. Better hope with the cba there is a compliance buy out.

Or a combination of things, this was from last season. I remember hearing Murphy was having a difficult time adjusting to Q’s D system.

"It has definitely been different here," Murphy said. "There are different rules that are in place that D-men have that definitely — I mean I've heard of before but aren't used to. It's something you have sometimes when you're on the ice in games, your body naturally wants to do something and you have to try and fight that to get into the way we play here.

Depends how much Barrett continues to improve. He's shown more skill and athletic ability than Shaw ever had. Shaw just gave it all on the ice.

Bolland had some real nice offensive skill but I don't think he really took care of himself off ice and then the back just wrecked his career.

I wouldn't sleep on Barret becoming a solid top 6 two way player, he is beating ass as a sophomore. Most importantly he brings an edge and skill. Something the Hawks lack outside of Dcat really (which is sad but true). I really hope he continues to improve and becomes something for the Hawks.
