poop for brains Backes suspended for another dirty hit, which reminds me how much I hate that hypocritical d-bag, his level of whining in 2015 when Seabrook knocked him out was just too much to take. Backass got his comeuppance and didn't like it. If you can't take the hits, don't dish them out. Seabrooks hit on ANYONE else of more credible class I'd have not liked it, but since the hit was on one of the NHLs cheesiest predators I rejoiced.

Oh yea, (frank) Backas.

This reminds me, I wonder if Marchand will have a cough due to cold and not be able to suit up versus the 'Hawks Tuesday.

Because underneath all the cheap shots, Marchand, is, above all else, a scumbag.

Other than the Danault trade, this drives me crazier than anything.

Just don't understand. You saw it time and time again with Q, play a guy on his off wing that he hasn't played his whole career, then kill him and bench him because he doesn't perform.

Perlini, is young, big, fast the kind of player this board has been begging for, for a decade now.

Put him in his natural position, down on the 3rd line, let him grow. Give him PK time, working with and being trained Toews and Kruger. This and next couple seasons is about building for the future. Let guy play where he can be successful. If he isn't ready, then get him top minutes in Rockford.

Damn, it just doesn't seem that difficult. Hawks had what seemed like a good program for developing players. Then, had gotten what seemed to be a good coach for the role in Rockford.

They are drafting better, need the development program fixed and in a hurry. There are a lot of players coming up in the next few years who seem to have talent, need to bring them along the right way.

Agree totally, put the young ones in position to both
develop and succeed. It should be the organizations
number 1,2,3, goals.

What were you hoping to see, and what didn’t he show? I couldn’t watch the game.

I have a lot of eggs placed in the Barratt basket, probably more than I should. At the moment, he's my favorite prospect. My guess is a bad game. I haven't seen any. I wonder if he was on a different line or given more responsibilities on the ice. Maybe, simply, he played a tougher opponent. I'm not sure. What were you hoping to see that he didn't do, or didn't do well enough?

Depends how much Barrett continues to improve. He's shown more skill and athletic ability than Shaw ever had. Shaw just gave it all on the ice.

Bolland had some real nice offensive skill but I don't think he really took care of himself off ice and then the back just wrecked his career.

I wouldn't sleep on Barret becoming a solid top 6 two way player, he is beating ass as a sophomore. Most importantly he brings an edge and skill. Something the Hawks lack outside of Dcat really (which is sad but true). I really hope he continues to improve and becomes something for the Hawks.

Speaking of Barratt. Wonder if he will spend all 4 years in college. Be nice to sign him early so he can get into the system. Lord knows the Hawks can use some decent forwards .

If he does stay 4 years hope he doesn't pull a Vesey/Hayes by not signing and becoming a free agent.

I really don't see that happening with him. He's beyond thrilled to be a blackhawk. In the year of his draft, on day 2 he was in the audience (highly unconventional). He was crying that a team drafted him. He went down, met everyone, shook hands, and sat at the hawks table on the floor. He will be a hawk. In however much time it takes.

It's tough to tell if a college player will test free agency rather than sign with the team that drafted them. Several players have done it recently so not sure what the common denominator is. Hayes, Vesey, Butcher, Kerfoot, Schultz. I'm sure there are a few others.

One possibility is that they did not see an open spot open for them right away on the NHL roster and did not want to spend time in the AHL to wait. All of the aforementioned players never played in the minors. Of that group, Vesey and Schultz probably should have.

Another possibility is that management of the team that drafted them may have jerked them around and they wanted to be on a team that treated them better. I want to say that was the case with Butcher but could be thinking of another player.

Like Breadman said, my gut is Barratt will sign with the Hawks whether this spring, next spring, or after senior year. There should be a spot available for him to compete for and management seems to be treating him and other prospects well.

I’ve been impressed with Phillip Kurashev (SUI) looks like Stan might have found a sleeper pick.

I liked what I saw of him at camp, and keep hearing good things about him. I'm excited for him as well. Good to know we have better offensive prospects than we first thought.

Justin,

Question for the mail bag...
Let's say you're the Hawks GM. Given your knowledge of the Hawks prospects in the system and current roster, what would you like to see as the Hawks lineup let's say at the beginning of the 20-21 season. What trades and FA signings would you make, and what position players would you draft over the next year and a half.

The @MapleLeafs have acquired goaltender Michael Hutchinson from the Florida Panthers in exchange for Toronto’s fifth-round pick in the 2020 NHL Draft.
