With any luck - given the relative lack of interest in the game (two not very exciting teams - one of them 1,000 miles from home - why didn't they pick Detroit-Chicago for the game - two teams reasonably close to South Bend) - this will be the last time for a while that the Blackhawks partake in the bowl game. - StLBravesFan
I for one will be glad when the HAWKS are done with these sham games . |

Brenden Perlini sucks..... he should be taken out of every conversation and more importantly the roster... just saying |

Maybe if we are not a big draw anymore we will be done with these for a while. I also am not a fan of these -the novelty wore off after the first couple. |

According to JC it's an open competition, i believe if Delia has another great game vs Avs, he starts the WC. - BetweenTheDots
Delia should start 70% of the games for the rest of the season to get experience, but more importantly to see what we have going forward since Crawford is likely done... I’ve liked what I’ve seen so far from Delia... hopefully he can become the real deal...

I hope your right .I just think it ridicules to put pro players in unfamiliar and sometimes dangerous situations ,and tell them to go full out . Make it the all star game ,nobody cares about that game except the sponsors and their freeloading shareholder's . |

With all this “so called talent” -Florida is terrible

We'll take Seguin and Benn off their hands. Don't think we could get either but for sh!ts and giggles, what would it take to get Seguin or Benn? - AEL_Fox
About $9.5M which we won't have unless we move a core player. |

Any prospective Hawks other than Jack Hughes worth watching on team USA tonight? |

How can that be? Isn’t Uncle Dale still running the show down there? I thought he could do no wrong? |

Agreed. I'm going to the WC and am certain it will be Ward. Is this our first WC without Crow in net btw? - Assman22
Yo Ass, not sure of your schedule but on Monday, New Yrs Eve, the Fuel are in Kalamazoo for an ECHL tilt at 2:00 and at 8:00 the 2nd place Chicago Steel are in Muskegon to play the 1st place LumberJacks (.750 win percentage, best in the league) for some USHL action. Hawks property Hakarainen plays for Muskegon. 2 games in one day then off to South Bend for some NHL hockey the next day. ........... A Casino in Kzoo as well.
Nice little road trip. 3 games, 3 different levels, two awesome 50 yr old little arenas that seat 4k all in 2 days.

Burish could be speaking in hyperbole but I find that somewhat sad and frustrating that Q and his staff didn't spend a lot of time studying tape. Maybe as a team they didn't watch tape together but individual players watched on their own or at least with video coach Matt Meachem?
IMHO, studying tape is an important part of training and between-game learning and prep. You don't need to view tape religiously but at timely points throughout the season to make necessary improvements in your game. - AEL_Fox
And holds a player accountable in a room with teammates as the film shows a guy out of position, not following the system, dogging a play or conversely hustling, laying a hit, covering for a mate........... Simply said zero downside to film work.

Remember a couple years ago when someone reported that Hawks were very disappointed with Dahlstrom, and considered him timid, afraid to get hit, a bust and waste of a 3rd rounder, and they sent him back to Sweden.
Just shows Dmen develop later in most cases. Something to think about over the next few years. - vabeachbear
Well said, Bear. As Al always said some see the end of the movie before others. Dmen take more time to develop and on top of that they are getting less and less seasoning down on the farm.

Boqvist perfect example maybe next or the year after but the talent hockey IQ and playmaking ability is there needs time to grow into his body and get better in his own zone if this happens we might have a real dynamic player for the next 10 years just patients is required. |

Yep. Hawks can no longer think of the goalie position as an after thought. See what you have and if you need to make plans to find a #1.

Yes, the kid has tons of offensive upside. Have no time table on the kid, let his game tell you when he's ready. 1 yr, 3 yrs I don't care, don't rush the 155 pound kid.

I agree that Crow is done...that hit he took to the back of his head was vicious.
I'd like to see Delia get in every second or third game for the next month or two, and then take the reins. |

One thing I have noticed about Delia is that he's very quick to get back in net and in position. |

Hawks need a define role and stop playing him on off wing he is lw play on the lw and keep him there. IMO - Scott1977
Other than the Danault trade, this drives me crazier than anything.
Just don't understand. You saw it time and time again with Q, play a guy on his off wing that he hasn't played his whole career, then kill him and bench him because he doesn't perform.
Perlini, is young, big, fast the kind of player this board has been begging for, for a decade now.
Put him in his natural position, down on the 3rd line, let him grow. Give him PK time, working with and being trained Toews and Kruger. This and next couple seasons is about building for the future. Let guy play where he can be successful. If he isn't ready, then get him top minutes in Rockford.
Damn, it just doesn't seem that difficult. Hawks had what seemed like a good program for developing players. Then, had gotten what seemed to be a good coach for the role in Rockford.
They are drafting better, need the development program fixed and in a hurry. There are a lot of players coming up in the next few years who seem to have talent, need to bring them along the right way. |

I'm still very high on Perlini (and Strome). But, as you said, coming to a new system AND playing off wing is certain to impact his development. That being said, I've already seen enough to think he is an NHLer already.
I just don't think Schmaltz and/or Hinostroza we're gonna get us back to the promised land.
