That explains it.

Sorry, just been seeing that a ton EVERYWHERE on social media and stuff lately. Starting to get on my nerves.

So really, it has less to do with you and more to do with me.

I'm hoping he does not get overpaid. He is a finisher, not much more. Team needs finishers don't get me wrong but not for >8M.

Edit: term is more important than aav. give him >8M for 5 years and im good with it.

I came to this conclusion yesterday as well.
He will be 27 in May.
5 or 6 years would be ok, anything more than that would see the last years of assumed declining production at a high cost.
$8.5m x 6 would be the target IMO

the problem is that he may not want to sign something for a shorter term considering that this could be his last time to get paid big money.

The way he plays... i don't think there is going to be that big drop off. His type of style could easily last until 35. IMO of course.

UPL played a really nice game.... Ends up loosing 2-1.... (both goals on the PP, one was 5 on 3) SOLID SOLID prospect.

Laaksonen looked pretty good as well...

6K, Lakksonen and Samuelsson will be future Sabres. They're all can't miss imo.

Didn't see the game and was curious myself. I did see that he was on the 3rd pairing to start the game and has had a terrific freshman season at Western Michigan, according to his coach Andy Murray. Murray thinks Samuelsson is a can't miss top 4 defender abut needs a few years in college.

edit- I would say our future top 4 d is Wristoe, Samuelsson, Dahlin and Pilut. Watch for Lakksonen too.

There's only one logical conclusion we can come to at this point and I'm ashamed at myself for not seeing it before...fitz is ror.

It's the only explanation strong enough to explain why he consistently talks about him(self) It makes so much sense now though. Having someone like that around everyday would be equivalent to a 5 ton anchor in a row boat. You can work as hard as you want, you're still going to sink to the bottom every time.

- washedup20

((Jack-Sam+skins)*[sobotka*winger*winger]/ Casey+/- winger-+winger -( lockport*0*0) = sabers forwards*0.000= fitz*0 / .00* 0.000001*0)/ ROR. Which is = to NOT READY josh Allen / 0.....

So you can see very plainly see this is the result.

ROR>fitz-josh Allen=not ready

I’m out.....

I was looking at Voracek for the flyers because I was thinking maybe that could be a change of scenery trade with Okposo. Then I saw his contract and career numbers. I can't understand at all why they gave the guy over $8m. He's never been that good. His career high in goals is 23. Needless to say, I don't like that idea anymore

Not sure if you saw this in the Buffalo News, but I agree with you, especially after having read this article.

I had the game on but wasn't really paying a ton of attention to it. I did see him make a real nice play to break up an odd man rush that occurred during a line change.

I don't think anyone over the age of 27 is a good idea for this team at this point. Anyone who's produced to the point that it would be helpful would probably have a pretty high salary for an extended period of time and would also require a decent amount going back the other way. Just doesn't fit with what JB is putting together here.

That's why I was looking to see about moving Okposo for a comparable (I know Voracek had a ton more points - well assists - last year). The best case scenario imo for Okposo is figuring out a trade that matches celery, because there's no way a GM is giving up young players for Okposo. I thought Voracek made like $7m, not $8+ woof. A change of scenery trade could still work though, because Okposo is not working

I get that for sure. And maybe his style does translate to a longer career, although speed is a big part of his game and most players lose a step as the get into their 30's.

So, $8.5 x 6 = $51m ; and $8.0 x 7 = $56 ... $5m is not chump change, but he could make that up and more IF he remained productive.

I have faith in Botteril, he has negotiated some good contracts already...
Maybe the way is to get the AVV to work out to $8m or less on a longer term by reducing the salary in the final couple of years, but increasing the early years..so something like 9, 9, 9, 8, 8, 8, 6, 6 ...gets to $63 with avv slightly less than $8m. I could go with that, not much more though.

Yeah. I get it. But we're not getting rid of Okposo for someone that's actually going to be helpful at this point. Realistically, is anyone going to take back a $7M salary of a guy that clearly is struggling big time? If we do manage to dump him somewhere, it's going to be for pennies on the dollar.
