Why are they not in a position to be buyers?
- sabresfan69

They have minimum cap space for one

They have some top heavy contracts that are weighing them down (Scandella, Okposo)

They are going to need those 4 1st round draft picks to be here when Dahlin is making $10 million and Skinner is making $8.

They are still a rebuilding team.

Buyers look for the rest of the season, Botterill is still building for the future

Dude, why do you come here with your hate? Isn't there enough hate in the world already that you don't have to bring your hate to hockeybuzz?

You sound like a self hating loathing slob and I feel sorry for your wife.

Unfortunately they won’t suddenly develop talent.... guy’s with no talent to score aren’t going to suddenly start scoring because someone called them out. If anything it will probably make most of them even worse.

The only way to fix this is start replacing them, it should start with a call up today, but I doubt it does.

Need a 2nd line center badly. I fear that this team will slip quickly if something is not done. Even if that is a call up to see if we can get some scoring from the Rochester guys.

It's still early.

I do not agree with his comparison either, but....

Why be a complete Richard?

You're not going to get a 2nd line center from Rochester though

I would rather give Mittelstadt some wingers with speed

I wouldn't be so sure that kyle is completely retired from playing.

Long offseason, he brings alot of passion

Kyle doesn't strike me as the type of guy to make a decision, announce it and then change his mind.

My guess is he retires, shows up a few times in the offseason and at training camp, goes on the wall and maybe gets into coaching in a year or two.

We have one.....Mitts. But he's a rookie and plays like one. He will grow into the role.

If this team is battling for the last wild card spot, Skinner is signed, and J.B. hasn't traded away all of our depth in Roch then this season has been a success.

Shouldn't we be praising GMJB's patience right now?

The only thing he has to do this year is sign Skinner.

Why are we calling to mortgage the future even as this teams warts are exposed.

GMJB knows exactly what this team is.

I concur.... It would be nice to try and speed things along but it's the wrong move right now, stay the course. Draft make a couple moves improve again next year.

and who know maybe we get lucky in the draft and land a nice pick....

Yeah, last year, he said he was going to mull it over and then decided he was going to come back for one more year. His decision is made. Good on him. He deserves it.

If Skinner is resigned the season is already a success. The first few months of the season allowed the players to know that they can win. Even if we miss the playoffs I still consider this season a success as we have taken huge strides. To me picking twice in the top 15 is just as good as us making the playoffs although I'm sure im in the minority.

I agree, but kyle is such a competitor.

When he gets a chance to rest and reflect, who knows?

I imagine McDermott is gonna try and convince him to stay. Or maybe not...

He wasn't really on the second line, he got the least amount of ice time on the team last night. He did play more than Jordan Nolan though.

4 1sts say otherwise. Also you can get a 3rd line center for a second.

These reasons are just noise. You can trade for a young center like Nelson without taking on huge salary or trading away many assets. Probably something like Guhle and a 2nd would do it.

He was going to retire last year and decided to give it one more run. This team is not close to winning anything. He's done.

And announces it before his last home game so he will get his farewell.
