He also played on a team coached and managed by Mike "Eurotrash" Milbury.

Also, why did I not know that Darcy was interim before Milbury got hired? It was only 10 days, but still.

For as much as Chiarelli, rightly, gets hammered, he couldn't hold a candle to the players Milbury traded for and away, traded Dumont and a pick away for a nobody, DiPietro draft, McCabe, Bertuzzi and a 3rd for Linden, Chara and Spezza for Yashin, then signed Yashin to a 10 year $90M contract, got rid of Olli and Lu for Mark Parrish and Oleg Kvasha.

Yeah, but other than that, he was a total success.

He was a shoe in for GM of the year.

Did you see the 30 for 30 on that?

It was crazy that a guy faked his way to owning an NHL team.

Not sure how you can argue results.

The Sabres are much better this year than they have been in recent years.

- sbroads24

WOW
You’ve made some bad posts before...
But this is something

Sabres are better this year because of...
-Skinner/Eichel going bananas
-Dahlin steadying the defense, incl Bogo, and Risto
-GOALTENDING

Not bc a really good player is on another team
Bc what we got back for him, has hardly helped at all

What a dumb argument that is
Just brutal dude

And AGAIN...
YOU that brought up ROR, not me

The guy who divided the locker room (which literally everyone here with a source, and multiple media members have eluded to) not being here is a reason we are better.

I’m sorry you refuse to accept it.

Sorry he’s your boy and he’s no longer here. I know the feeling.

I hope USA can figure this goalie out in the third. This has last year's upset written all over it.

Addition by Subtraction is a real thing. Time will tell, but early returns show that it might be the case here. Despite his stats, teams with O'Reilly on it have underperformed. Until results show otherwise, he's this era's Shane Doan. He does really well in most areas except the one that matters most: The Win Column.

sorry but your way off base, everything he said has merit.
- gordong

Yeah, to a degree
However, trying to make the below correlation is quite ridiculous

“O’Reilly is playing big time minutes once again and his team is below average to bad”

Their goaltending is a nightmare
Yes, worse than last year
See: Hutton’s replacement already released

Defense is struggling to the point where there’s rumors about even Pietrangelo & Parayko possibly being moved

Scoring forwards struggling like:
Tarasenko (for him), Steen(6g), Schenn(7g), Schwartz(3g), Maroon(2g)

O’Reilly is the one guy on that team that’s actually killing it for them

Blaming him outta hate, or just laziness, is pretty damn dumb

Derek Roy is in this category as well.

Certain guys can score points, play minutes, win faceoffs, whatever, but don’t lead to the win column.

O’Reilly is good. He was never as good as his reputation.

You know who sorely misses a player? Carolina with Skinner

How can anyone argue the results anymore?

The fact that we added Skinner because of moving O’Reilly’s deal makes it a giant win if Skinner re-signs

- sbroads24

Could’ve fit both
Should’ve gotten a better return

It’s really quite simple

I can't remember if you were around or not, but I was one of the biggest proponents of the "This line up is better when Derek Roy isn't in it" train. 2010-2011 illustrated it beautifully. And players said it off the record too.

Shouldn’t have made stupid end of year comments and then asked to be moved because he knew the fans didn’t like them.

He didn’t hate Buffalo, he didn’t think he’d ever be captain or be a fan favorite again

They are pronouncing "Pekar" as "Peck-ash". Makes sense to me. I wouldn't want people calling me "Pecker" either.

They could have fit both. They also would have had virtually no room to improve to Championship caliber either. Hell, with the injuries before the Berglund fiasco, they only had 200k of cap space.

This US team is underwhelming.
