I think if a player is a point per game I’m still impressed ...,but I’m starting to think comparing what players are doing this year vs 5-10 years ago might not be a good comparable
- Redmile247

Agreed, it'll probably take 5-10 years with the new pads to get real accuracy, but a PPG is still fantastic imo

There is no hurry

I will be happy if Benning can get rid of 2 players by TDL.others will be gone through expiring contracts and maybe some aff-season moves.
As long as we add 2 or 3 players per year I am fine.

Not only that, it seems like there's been a mini resurgence of point blank snipes going in. I remember watching Naslund and Sakic sniping as a young kid, that's what got me into hockey.

Or maybe it's just because we have EP/Brock on the team and we're not used to having players like that

- Nucker101

Could be, i think it's a bit of both to be honest. Either way, Canucks games are vastly more entertaining this year than they have been in the last 4 or 5

Are we really worried about the other teams feelings?

I love this place

My realistic dream scenario:

One of Edler/Sutter traded at the TDL for a late 1st or equivalent prospect

+

We find a sucker GM and move one of MDZ/Schaller/Gagner/Nilsson at the TDL for a 4th or 5th round pick

Wasn't old Smitty one of the loudest complainers about the goalie equipment being reduced? I wonder if that's tied to his struggles at all.
- Nucker101

He was no Marty brodeur when it comes to complaining ....but I think he complained ...someone needs to tell him that Rittich doesn’t seem to be having the same issues as he is lol

Could we throw in Tryamkin, to the bottom group and hope for a 3rd?😁

More like 15 with Spezz, methot, khudobon leaving the lineup. Lindell and Ritchie are going to get significant raises. Honka the year after. If they want to push this year, they’ll look to shed Hanzal or at the very least fill the void in order to push. They have a pretty weak d corps though
- neem55

4 points in 19 games. Ritchie getting a raise? Honka the player they tried to pawn off to Edm for like a 5th round pick?

I’d rather every team have several P/g guys than see a goalie with a 2.00 GAA ... or CBC analysts praising Kris Russell for his shot blocking lol

Pretty sure he’s never played anything but center. But him and Gaudette battling for 3c is a nice thought. Seems like it’s much easier to switch to wing than vice versa I guess
- neem55

Tyson Giuriato

@TysonGiuriato

#Canucks

prospect Tyler Madden will play right wing today with Evan Barratt (CHI) in the middle and Noah Cates (PHI) on the left side.

Idk if he ended up playing right wing, havent seen it.

Edler leagues the league in shot blocks does he not. 🤩

Nope im wrong, hes not. Leading in blocks per game but not blocks overall.

Yup. Maybe not Ritchie I guess. Young d are valuable though. Honka has plenty of value and upside.

As long as we don’t see the “snipes” from just across the blue line going in like the 80’s lol

There’s nothing realistic about those bottom moves I don’t think. Maybe MDZ for a 5th. I like I hope the first two happen though.

Edler will never be healthy enough to lead the league in anything lol

At this point in time for Honka, i would probably have to make a comparable in value to when Van traded for DP. 23 years old with 79 NHL games and only 13 points. Still some time but its not looking good.

It is funny how we write off Canucks prospects at 20 years old, yet other teams prospects are given until 23-24 years old.
Not aiming at anyone in particular, as most of us do this.

For Schaller and Nilsson, I agree. But MDZ, or Gagner at 50% retained is entirely realistic for a 5th round pick.

Look at some of the random dmen in recent tdl's that have fetched late round picks.

yeah, this true to an extent. But at the same time, every fanbase overrates their own "B" and "C" level prospects and don't realize that each prospect is more likely to become a total bust rather than a leg tNHL regular.

Doesn't mean that their worthless, but it does mean that you shouldn't ink these guys into future lineups or say things like "we're already deep at this position in our prospect pool" because unless you have multiple bluechip prospects at a single position, then you're not really not guaranteed to be deep at any position.

Plus I swear that 20+ out of the 31 fanbases will always say "wow our prospect pool is deeper/better than it was five years ago" which is funny lol.

I get your little jab at me. lol.
I am happy with the depth, we are starting to gather, even if 1 in 5 pan out on the big club, which is probably a realistic number.
After years of having Shinkaruk Grenier Gaunce and Corrado as the only hope, it is nice having some others to at least talk about.

Points, believe it or not, is not the actual benchmark for defending. Otherwise, I’d like Hutton a lot more than I do.

He’s a lot like Johnny and Kane, I’d be shocked if he didn’t go first based on his skill/skating alone. Kaako has to dominate this tourney to change it, not a great start.
