Galvas and Kurashev both with assists in a 1-1 tie right now. Game is in the 2ndd period. - Justin Lowe
Nice defensive play by Galvas late in the 3rd. He lifted Mueller’s stick when he was on a breakaway. |

Kurashev has been playing very well. He almost put the Swiss ahead with Justin under 4 minutes to go. |

#Blackhawks prospect Jakub Galvas had an assist, +1 rating and led Czech Republic with 24:59 of ice time in 2-1 overtime win over Switzerland to open #WorldJuniors.
Philipp Kurashev had an assist, 3 shots on goal, -1 rating and led Switzerland with 24:53 of ice time. |

2.5 for Manning and 1 for Kunitz. Wonder what kinda D or Forward 3.5 coulda bought in FA??
-z1990z
You can't think this way. Incorrect. Every roster spot requires at least $900k in salary (yes, there are rare exceptions as low as a $650k player, but use $900k).
So to get rid of Manning and Kunitz, you would not have $3.5m available for signing someone else. You'd have about Mannings salary, $2.5m. Maybe you can say $2.6m, assuming you could call up a $900k Rockford guy.
Kunitz cost about nothing. His $1m salary barely registers above his replacement's salary of $900k or more.
I agree Manning money could have been more wisely used.

Great showing by these guys.
Kurashev appears to be a sneaky good pick by Mark Kelley and the Hawks. |

Agreed. Kurashev could make things interesting next camp.
With only one free contract spot left it will be interesting to see which prospects get signed earlier. I’m sure the Hawks will trade a contract or two at the deadline which should help. My guess is that the Hawks want to keep on spot open for Mitchell this spring. |

Keith is still one of (if not the) best defensemen on the Hawks. At this point in time, what does that really say? He is still really good, but not a world beater anymore. I have no problem moving him as long as the return is significant and in line with his overall value.
Yes his contract is good, but he is already up there in years. I wholeheartedly adhere to the move too early instead of too late camp considering where this team is currently. - Chunk
This is a joke, right?
Keith these days = trash
Gets burned and makes bonehead plays every game
Average player at best, and only getting older/slower/worse by the season
Teams would be CRAZY to give up anything more than a 2nd/3rd round pick for him.

Rutta and Manning's combined hit this year equalled what DeHaan signed for with Carolina. Another real NHL defenseman would have helped immensely this year. Kunitz, while a waste, doesn't cost much more than an ELC guy. - Davewn
DeHaan is not very good either |

Gotta like Slovakia's scheme. Line 3-4 guys up at the blueline to frustrate entries, Hawk fans know this look from back in the day, and use speed to take away time and space.... Setting up for a great 3rd with the US down 1-nuttin at the 18:00 of the 2nd with Slovakia on the PP as Pospisal (USHL) drew a penalty.
The Slovak 17 yr old in net has looked fantastic. Looked him up to see if/where he's ranked at Central Scouting. Sam Hlavaj is ranked as a B skater. https://www.nhl.com/info/nhl-css-players-to-watch |

I agree, though I would not call his play a trash. I would say he has negative value to any team - 5 year 5+ mln is not something any team will take without any money staying with Hawks. When our fans say he should fetch significant return - I think its home bias and they do not see true value of our players. I think at current contracts only DeBrincat has some value and can fetch some return, the other players are probably bringing negative return during trade (similar to stock options being under water). I see dreary picture not next 1-2 but next 7-10 years till contracts run out and enough rebuild happens.

I’d like to see Delia get more starts but not necessarily a starters workload, at least not yet. Rushing Forsberg last year hurt his development, let’s not make the same mistake with Delia. Maybe start by playing Delia every third game and increase it in 1-2 months to every other game. - DarthKane
Forsberg was not rushed. He is just not an NHL goalie. Good in the AHL which he won Championship. So he was not rushed.
Next time SAD scores a goal trade him ASAP.
Poor Toews been playing with hot garbage for years now.

100%. Been saying this for a while. They could have spent this a lot more wisely.
They would have had to lock in for more year 3 or 4, but to get a top 4 defenseman... it would have been worth it.
This also showed that Bowman didn't think he would have bee able to trade the Hossa contract. If he was confident in that, I can guarantee the Hawks would have had a much better July 1st. - Justin Lowe
But didn't Q want them?? |
