I hope he stays healthy. Truly. But I dont expect him to. Every period he plays is proving me wrong. And I'm okay with that. - Tfaehner

Can’t leave simmer and Jake on a line - wcorvette
Agreed it’s a bad combo, neither is comfortable on the left side. I’d try

JvR is pretty good in front of the net when shots are getting through, it's pretty much everywhere else on the ice he needs to improve. I just don't understand how someone with his talent is so meh most games. |

He was a third liner for a 2nd tier cup contender and we signed him to a top line winger contract. Seemed like we outbid ourselves there. Good player in his spots but I didnt think it was some earth shattering signing that propelled us to contenders. |

I'm thinking Hextall was using him as a backup plan for Simmer leaving |

His play just bothers me, for example that Patrick penalty came about because of JvR. Rewind the play and watch the effort of the pinch to keep puck in then Patrick coming in to battle from side wall all the way down to behind the net. Then Konency comes flying in from the other side, while JvR is a floating mess being irrelevant. That basically sums up 9 out of 10 games by him.
He is the worst when the puck transitions the other way when he just hooks a player then just stops skating. Then you have his turnovers in the D zone. So far all I can think of when I see JvR is when Bill talked about why Voroybov was sent back down to LHV because teammates were doing all the work for him...that is 159% JvR on the nose. |

I didn't want to make this comment based on a small sample size but I've seen enough. Varone is a better player than Jordan Weal is. In all facets. Weal plays an AHL game and dangles on the perimeter. Varone plays more of a straight ahead game and plays closer to the net. He's also better in puck support. |

He's not offering anything besides the few moments he has the puck near the net. Last couple games he has produced some points but overall he has been disappointing.

Yup. 10 year vet and he still skates aimlessly on the defensive side. And hes always shied away from contact despite his size. I played against him back in the teenager days and he always avoided contact. He destroyed us with his skill but he often lost a physical battle to a smaller man. And that's about heart more than anything. Who wants the bone more in a dog fight ? It was never him. |

Couturier has been passing up a lot of shots as of late, it’s bugging me. If you are gonna play with Hartnell/Schenn spot, you might wanna plant yourself there and be ready to pull the trigger.
On a rush prior to the Power Play, Simmonds set him up pretty nicely and Coots refused to shoot. |
