Question is - has leadership STARTED with them.

Just speculatorily questioning - I’m not in the room, so I really don’t know.

- StLBravesFan

I think about interviews, like Kane when he went to the World Championships, he was the Captain for USA and they asked him about Chicago and he went on to talk about the great leadership the Hawks have. I think that has been something players have talked about a number of times over the last decade. I don't think that goes away for guys who have those types of personality, especially as they mature.

I don't think they lack leadership on the team, what I think they are missing is a veteran vocal kind of guy who isn't afraid to yell at even the Core guys for making mistakes to hold them and everyone accountable

If I were to guess - get your head out of your arses and play like professionals.

True. Can't help but wonder which faction of the team it might have been aimed at. Would love to be "a fly on the wall" in such instances.

That might be the case. I think this team needs time to gel without too much turmoil for a while.

Game predictions for tonight? Anyone?
I'll say 6-4 Aves. It will be a good game, but a very tough opponent tonight.

If no one else is standing up and getting mad, then I have no problem with a 14 year vet speaking up. I would say it's those outbursts from the quieter players that gets everyone's attention.
- Justin Lowe

A la Jammer during the 2013 Cup run, Hayward for the Cubs during the rain delay, etc. etc.

What I perceive is that is taking the team to task (well-deserved, IMO) seems to have had the most positive effect on the Core, many of whom still seemed to be in a funk/pouting about the loss of Q and showing visible frustration with the new coach.

Ehhhhh. I don't think there's a problem with leadership more then it is talent.

They're playing better now because DeBrincat started scoring again and Kane has had multipoint nights. The goaltending has been good too.

As a group they have started playing consistently better hockey which has coincided with Connor Murphy coming back as well as Dahlstrom not sucking balls.

Now, I don't think they have enough talent to compete with the Jets, full strength Preds, Sharks, Tampa or Toronto but they should have a good opportunity to see who is and isn't worth keeping around and whose value they can pimp the next month to flip at the TDL for cap relief and futures.

All is not lost and it is encouraging to see some positives to build on. Just going to take another year and they really really need an impact player in this year's draft.

Based on the "Hot Mess on Ice" we were seeing, I'd say everyone except Parchy.

That’s possible. Thought all four of the Core looked good last night. Said it earlier but I thought Toews, Saad and Kahun looked really good last night together.

Does anyone know the jist of what Ward said to the team?
- BobP.

Konroyd and Jammer said it was him calling them out on their lack of compete and pride, so, yeah. . .

Not wrong

That's my question too.

Yeah, Cam's a vet, but the dude is supposed to be a backup goalie and is in his first year on the team.

Um yes. Dahlstrom has been rock solid. I watched him absorb a few hits last night and barely move.

Question is why was he down in Rock Vegas while we were up here suffering through Rutta and Manning night in night out? The kid has played 15 or so NHL games and has more composure with the puck and better positioning than either of the aforementioned useless turds.

No surprise the Hawks have looked a lot better since the arrival of Murphy and Dahlstrom. Big solid d-men with long reaches that don't routinely leave the middle of the ice wide open.

Hopefully several more d-men pan out for the Hawks and Dahlstrom and Murphy keep improving. A cupboard full of young good d-men is a nice problem to have.

Kahun is somehow a weird play-maker of sorts for that line. He doesn't do a whole lot but he is quick on his edges and seems to be able to maintain enough possession by being quick to allow others room to operate.

Anyone know if it's the same line-up? Murphy injury? JC rolling with Ward?

He gets great chances himself, he just needs to finish more. But I agree, I love his speed and edge work. He's been good and getting better recently. Same with Kampf. Johnson looked good with his return, too. I think the team is starting to gel and that goal or 2 goal deficet slump was killing them, but they look like a confident group. Key additions/players coming off IR. Forsling had himself a good game. There are errors here and there, that's fine with a young group, but I love the fight for 60 minutes. When's the last time the Hawks played full games, consecutively?

Please, dress Kunitz for the sole purpose of throwing elbows. Make sure he targets 1 of Landeskog, MacKinnon, or Rantanen. Then see if penalties are called.

Av's are playing well this season. But remember what a mess they were 2 years ago. A new coach, a few good draft picks, a few good trades, a few good signings and they bounced back pretty quickly. So it can happen.

15/16 - 39 wins
16/17 - 22 wins
17/18 - 43 wins
18/19 - 19 wins already

They do not have cap issues. However they have a self imposed budget that is just as restrictive.

Neat plan, have him run three avs, get a 40 game suspension and we are done with him..

I think it can too. I know about the changes for Col, and they get Ott's first this draft. Heavy sigh.

Shouldn't Kunitz pay-back the teams that already hit us, just to send the message, not the team that has done nothing to us? If we go after a good star filled team, then we look bad. We really shouldn't become the cheap shot artists we complain about.

i am getting tired of it...and thought about taking a vacation from here...
there are 2-3 posters in here i refuse to engage anymore who just luv to bait and troll

- bogiedoc

Totally agree with you that's exactly how I feel as well. What is worst those who are supposed to be monitoring the site don't. I say that because those 2-3 posters are here daily only to cause conflict. The board monitors are like the officials on ice they pick and choose who to enforce policy with and turn a blind eye on everything else that is far more egregious. Seriously so done with this place at times. Sorry for the rant.
