Strome plays hockey better than Schmaltz does - even though Schmaltz is a better skater and stickhandler. Strome makes the right play more frequently than Schmaltz did.

You dont win playoff series with a guy like Schmaltz in your top 6. He's soft. He's a figure skater.
Strome is a hockey player ...who does little things that help you win.

So a question to the panel what would trades look if keith gets traded say to toronto Winnipeg buffalo? Or AA to Montreal Columbus buffalo or any team that needs center depth going into the playoffs?

The Hawks could really get a nice piece since Toronto won't be able to sign everyone under the cap

I'd like to see Delia get a long look. He should play the majority of the next 15, 18 games.
Hawks need to find out if this kid is a possibility for next year. Ward will be gone and I have my doubts if we'll ever see Crawford playing again.

They need to find out if he can play in this league.

When the discussion about him was happening earlier today, I said it seems he gets up for the game and is more obviously the Keith of old when it's a team that is a division rival or against whom the Hawks have a history. Otherwise, not so much.

Win or lose tonite, I don’t think - didn’t think - they could climb back into contention.

And I didn’t see the game.

But looked like - again - two quick second period GAs cost them the game - and the stats show them being dominated in the second, but pretty even the rest of the game.

Still - five against with a goalie in net is way too many.

I never thought this team was very good, but I always want them to win. My hope for this season is that we end up with a top 3 pick. However, if they somehow make the playoffs, I'll be thrilled.

That one was on Dahlstrom - he should have been able to control the puck in a one on one situation where he had the angle -- failed, and left Ward with the choice of sit back in his net and wait, or go for a poke check (which he missed -it was more of a diving poke check which is more of a desperation move).

But that was the defenseman that choked on that play ... shouldn't have ever have happened.

Seriously though, how many stretch passes get made through a defense pair? Usually it is someone wide open ... no d man within a mile -- that one split the defense -and should never have worked --- actually I am not sure what defenseman (Florida, I mean) even try that stunt...

Best thing about this game was that I was off work, so I could start drinking early.

He had a bad play too, I will grant that, but I also think when the goalie sees that his dman blew a play, his only option is to hold down the net and stop the breakaway, not battle with the puck carrier that dman 1 couldn't defend against. Playing safe is better than desperation, I think.

did not see any of the game and i won't bother with the replay: just scrolled through the thread...

they beat the preds, stars and aves with really good effort and 3rd period closeouts and then from the posts here its back to give away and ward had a bad night...
