Broads- you were pretty much right about gmtm.

I hated and disagreed with all your bashing.

You were %110 right though

I think the ROR & Kane trades would’ve worked out just fine...
except he totally screwed up with Lehner & the defense

There were some good moves/picks made amongst the mess though

U didn’t make the “Raw Deal” comment
There were 2 posters who came out very vocally about how the GMTM firing was unfair
They know who they are

The results were the results, it was time for a change.

I just felt like he was doomed from the beginning.

It's like if I hire a kid out of college with a great *college* resume because I have this savy manager to mentor him.

Then that mentor ups and quits, and I don't hire anyone to support them.

That never sat well with me. But this game isn't about fair chances, it's about winning and he didn't get it done.

What JB has done in such a short time is amazing.

And...it started with building a winning culture.

The Sabres are also getting anothe Colin White this year or next as well. Can't call an unfinished trade good or bad yet.

True
That’s why I’ve said “so far”
We don’t know what Thompson will or won’t become
And obviously the picks are years away from being a factor/bust

That’s the one thing that makes sense about moving him
However,
it doesn’t make the mediocre return we got any better

Berglund is gone, thankfully

Do u want Sobotka here long term?
I don’t think anyone does

And while Thompson has shown flashes in a couple games, it’s still way up in the or what he will or won’t develop into
I’m not a fan
Would love to be proven wrong though

Now of we’d have gotten back a “core” player... u wouldn’t be hearing this argument from me

All i wanted was a good return if we moved him
I think my reasoning for not being happy with it so far is fair

- jdfitz77

The return now doesn’t blow anyone away.

But it’s all about Thompson and the 1st.

I thought Berglund would be better than he was. He wasn’t, they were able to move on and not have to pay him for 3 more years.

Sobotka isn’t scoring but he’s been fine defensively.

The bottom 6 was so bad last year. They got scored on almost at will.

It’s much better defensively. Would I like more offense? Of course.

Having Sobotka here means a guy like Malone can keep developing in Rochester.

You can’t throw the kids to the wolves.

It’s all big picture.

I didn't read the article. So Berglund's contract is now gone?

This couldn't have worked out better. His salary gone, Moulson's coming off the books next year. That's some good cap room.

So far, Colorado got a better deal for ROR from us than we did from St. Louis. I think that's a pretty fair statement. It was also his first trade, so he probably had a bit more value then

I think the benefit is more that the move:

1) Allowed this to be Jack's team.
2) He was a good player but not at the contract especially if the locker room stuff was true.

Aside from the first rounder, this trade SEEMS less about what we got and more about what we got rid of.

Just compare Jack's pressers after a loss to ROR's. Betting you could almost word for word recite what he says in St. Louis without seeing one interview. Stuff like that carries over. Jack challenges the team to perform better. Granted, that means nothing if one doesn't have the skill to back it up. But it's way different.

That’s way worse than the 23point pace our 2C is on and the 13point pace our 3C is on...
isn’t it?

Guy was a cancer.

Addition by subtraction.

There IS such a thing as chemistry, which this team lacked and has now.

Even if ROR was playing terrible right now,
I’m still not happy with how these guys are playing for us
Idk how anyone could be?
It’s not a very controversial opinion

- jdfitz77

1st rounder looks like its gonna be a good pick
2nd rounder
Tage- 20 years old and showing flashes of skill.
Very likable guy in my opinion.

Sobotka- he's not cisto or nolan or any other tanker

At least our GM has acknowledged that, AND (the most important part) he's not going to panic into a rush move, like his predecessor.

They have a plan and are sticking to it. Thank God.

If our first line is producing the way they are now even with other teams knowing they are the only threat, imagine what will happen when we can get some secondary scoring to take some defensive pressure off them

am thinking that the opposition knows that line will get their points but are intent upon not letting the other lines hurt them...the Sobotka line last night had four total shots, three on goal

Big picture... we don’t know what we have in Thompson or the 1st

So far... it’s been disappointing

I would have traded RoR for the draft pick alone.

A great PK player and another lottery ticket in Thompson are just gravy

It’s not “sexy” but it’s not disappointing coming from a last place finish to where they are now, at least not in my eyes.

Spot on! I was not in favor of the ROR trade when we made it, but after seeing how this team and come together there is no question he had to go... Anyone that cant see this is blind, or just plain dumb.

So we have to suffer with out bottom 9 scoring, the plus is we get to watch that top line play and I'll take that over last year X 100 billion zillion.

Stop me if you've heard this, but....

I think that's what the 1st is thought to be.

That pick is looking to be a top 10 pick in the 2020 draft. That is a very valuable piece and the one that no one seems to add into the equation.

I think we should’ve gotten the 1st and a better prospect/young player than Thompson
Especially if we were taking back the salary of Sobotka & Berglund
