I did hate acquiring him
BECAUSE
-a SLOW (not fast like u said) winger playing 2C didn’t make any freaking sense to me
Remember Leino?

Sobotka has been mediocre
And as much as u wanna say Thompson has looked better, he could still be a guy who never becomes useful

I was on here REPEATEDLY saying i was ok with trading ROR
IF
We got a good return for him
We didn’t
We got pieces that are actually “replaceable”
Not guys that will be part of us becoming a Contender
Maybe Thompson can become one of those guys?
Right now, i still have my doubts
*that’s not “bashing” someone btw

The StL 1st is the only part of that trade looking good for us right now

Meanwhile,
O’Reilly is scoring with StL like YOU said he COULDN’T
Funny how EXACTLY what i said would happen with him has

Keep on hating though
I’m sure this is where u blame their record on him
Otherwise, you’d just have to admit you were wrong... again

- jdfitz77

BECAUSE SLOW REPEATEDLY ROR YOU COULDN’T EXACTLY

those are the capitalized words.

Also, I wanted Domi from AZ in a package. Nothing from St. Louis other than Thomas/Kyrou/Schwartz sounded great to me.

That said, Berglund was just about as disappointing as an acquisition ever, sans Leino maybe. I expected 15 goals, not a mopey godfather

Wonder if he found his love for the game on a playoff contender like st. lou---oh.

would've made a great second line center in buffalo...too bad he didn't see it that way

It absolutely is true
You were hating on Kane WAY BEFORE the abortion thing
Criticizing his point totals & injury history
U really have a selective memory dude

- jdfitz77

Do you (frank)ing read dude?

I just said I hated what we gave up, and his disaster of a first year here.

Which included not playing well, being suspended, getting in a bar fight, and being accused of sexual assault. - That’s why I started to “hate” him

The St.Louis first rounder will be the best player in that deal and fits our timeline better. Have some patience.
- Pegullaville

Very fair point
It’s kinda tough to take right now though

We are hurting at 2C, while he’s killing it
And the guys we got to help out depth have all been disappointing to various degrees

It’s tough to look forward to what the StL pick MIGHT become in a few years

Even if ROR was playing terrible right now,
I’m still not happy with how these guys are playing for us
Idk how anyone could be?
It’s not a very controversial opinion

Well I mean if he can bring Tarasenko with him maybe he would have had the same success here. Different system, different players. This move was a trade for the future. We would not have been able to resign Skinner without his money on the cap think of the trade this way:

ROR
Cliff Pu
2nd rounder
meddling draft picks

for

Skinner
Thompson
Sobotka
1st rounder
2nd rounder

Mark Parrish 2011
Christian Ehrhoff 2012-2014
Cole Schneider 2016-2017
Jacob Josefson 2018
Patrik Berglund 2019

I'm glad that ROR is gone. The fact that we just got out from under the Berglund contract is awesome. Sobotka is here for one more year at the moment.

The ROR trade was more about getting out from under his contract, Thompson and the 1st rounder. Would I like to see more from Tage, sure. But he's still young so I'm not freaking out about it or anything.

No, it's not. One somewhat impactful offensive player would have been nice. I thought it would be Berglund. But it is what it is. At least we're not stuck with Berglund

It comes down to three things:

1. Thompson
2. Draft pick (lottery ticket)
3. Getting out from under the contract of a player who isn't getting any faster

Berglund had somewhat nullified #3

as a player I saw a two-way, 60-point player who could anchor the pk and also had some pretty good chemistry with skunk

Shouldn't anyone who hated the trade feel a little better about it today?

It was a great trade when it was made. With STL stinking and now with Berglund's contract gone, it's an absolute steal.

- Lunaion

Yeah, kinda
But it’s still not a great trade
Not even a good one

I’d rather have a 27year old center who’s under contact and on pace for 33goals and 82points
Some of u guys acted like he was 33 already

U can’t really be happy with why we’ve gotten out of Sobotka or Thompson yet...
are you?

Not true
We could’ve got Skinner & ROR going forward, and then some

And sure...
playing with Tarasenko absolutely helps
A hell of a lot more than playing with Pouliot or Girgs

But it’s more how StL is using him

It’s not surprising that he’s doing much better offensively now that he isn’t being used so defensively
Well, maybe to Sbroads it is

It’s totally a coincidence that the two people most opposed to the O’Reilly trade are also the two that don’t like Thompson and how he has turned it around since being awful the first 10-15 games. Total coincidence

Since the Philly game where he starred to turn it around he has

4th on the team in shots per 60
3rd in shot attempts per 60
8th in high danger chances per 60
4th in total shots
8th in total high danger chances for

Hes playing with two scrubs

And I’ll bet my house he doesn’t end up near 30 goals.

He’s already dropped dramatically from being over a PPG the first 20 to 9 in his last 15

All fair points
Just wish we got a better return for him
Bc he’s clearly a really good player
So far,
what we got back has been very uninspiring
Hopefully I’m wrong about Tage & he develops into a top6 scorer for us
We could use it
