It would have worked for this year but not when one of the top 5 on 5 scorers become a Free Agent and already having $7.5 million tied up in 1 player.

Skinner would turn into a complete rental player.

Why would Botterill do that if he’s trying to build long term knowing he wouldn’t be able to keep him after this season?

He made the trade after ROR was moved knowing he had the cap space available to sign Skinner if it worked out.

Getting out of that contract for noting considering the circumstances is nice
- sbroads24

I have not back read, but I would be surprised if there wasn't pushback from, if not Berglund, then the union on his behalf. That sets a dangerous precedent to just let it go. And if I'm in union leadership I scream and claw for anything I can get. Even if it's just to make noise and ultimately nothing different happens. If nothing happens it leads me to believe they've(the Sabres) got him dead to rights, and fighting it would only bring further embarrassment.

It was mutual decision so Berglund agreed to it.

Where would the pushback come from?

If Sam could become a legit center,
I’d be pretty happy with our depth down the middle

- jdfitz77

Remember when we thought it was going to be
- Reinhart
- McEichel
- who gives a F
- who gives a F2
With McEichel suplanting Reino at 1C eventually.

Now we have the potential for
- Eichel's Tower of Power
- Skunky Sam/Stats/new acquisition
- Stats/new acquisition/Asplund/Davidsson
- Davidsson/ERod

And I'm pretty excited about Pekar being a 4th liner with lots if grit to stir poop up and de-focus the opposing team...wouldnt mind another truculent forward in the top 6

I'm not sure he agreed to it. CapFriendly seems to be the source, and they've since clarified.

ROR has more than double the points of Berglund, Sobotka & Thompson... COMBINED
That’s fact
Locker room stuff is conjecture
None of us know if it was a big deal or not
Another fact is that they both denied it
And Jack even said they hammed it up on purpose to mess with the media rumors that they weren’t getting along

I can just reverse it on you too
You can’t prove what i said isn’t true

Goaltending is much better... fact
Skinner is killing it... fact
Dahlin is awesome... fact

There’s a lot to back up my opinion

- jdfitz77

Definitely but the circumstantial evidence is hard to plausibly deny. Maybe Lehner was the problem? Who knows, but someone was, possibly multiple someones and the people in and around the team say how much better it is in the room now.

Was it? All I saw was unconditional waivers with intent to terminate. Nothing that Berglund agreed to it. I'm, not saying he didn't, just that I haven't seen it confirmed anywhere.

Edit: Grievances usually take a few days. Wilson's suspension's appeal didn't come for almost a week I think.

I haven't back read, but while watching the game last night, I felt like the Sabres had control of the game and were going to win, even after the Panthers scored their 3rd goal on the penalty shot, until the Panthers scored their 4th goal.

What I'm trying to say is that even though the main issue(s) is obvious, I'm not in a panic mode about the team.

I agree
We could start with blacklisting Metzeric, as an example.

Three team in a row have had locker room issues after RoR has gone there.

Two of them made huge leaps after he was moved.

This is not conjecture

- Shadman306

No, but you're confusing correlation for causation. St Louis was headed for the basement regardless, it started when they traded Stastny last year when they were still in it and the players hated it, they made the ROR move to try and stop it, but it hasn't worked. Has ROR contributed? Possibly. But the Blues were hardly in a great place before the trade.

Good news.

I'm still skeptical until it actually happens. It seems TGTBT.

Nobody can deny that ROR is gone and coincidently, the above happened.

There's 4 newer tweets from them clarifying things. Still seems very possible that it will be contested.

I guess so
Just tough to watch ROR killing it whil we struggle with the secondary scoring that the StL guys were supposed to solve, or at least be a big help with

- jdfitz77

Ror is killing it!

wasn't there just a report of players fighting, yes yes there is.

2 depth players fighting is somehow RORs fault?
Wow... you’re really reaching

So in 63 games with the Blues last year Stastny had 12/28/40...roughly 2x games than played YTD 2018-2019.
ROR in 2018-2019 through 32 games (as close to 50% of 63 games as one can get) has produced 13/19/32. Multiple that pace by 2 to arrive at a 64 game pace he yields 26/38/64 a full 60% better than Syasny lasy year.
Are ypu saying that by letting Stastny go, and replacing him with a guy who produces at a rate of 160% is a reason to say the Blues demise th s season is expected?

Seems like Davidsson has more scoring upside than Asplund
