You don't want a losing culture for the younger players. Look how that worked in Edmonton. I still want to see the Hawks play hard and as well as they possibly can and let the chips fall where they may. - paulr

There's alot of issues with the young guys meshing with Torts system. Wennberg, Anderson, Duclair has been in and out of the lineup in the last 10 then is thrown on the first line with Panarin day to day. He just seems like a guy that has unrealistic expectations. - nickmo2699

All of Stans off season moves are beyond awful , manning , Kunitz and Kruger.
Kunitz should never see the ice again in a Indian head sweater he is just horrible. - Taylorst1
I wouldn't say Kruger has been beyond awful. I actually think Hayden-Kruger-Martinsen can be a pretty good 4th line (on this team). They're a potential grinder/shut down line. Again, we can't make this team out to be more than it is. This is basically a "get through the season" team. Based on that, Kruger fits well. As for Kunitz and Manning... they do not fit on a team like this (nor really any team). |

That is incorrect. They are not related to the Panozzo Brother funeral home family.

Yeah that's what I thought. As much as we need to be trying to shed some cap, he might be a sneaky good steal to grab in a deal. If he can live up to his potential we'd be looking at Toews-Strome-Wennberg-Kampf up the middle and that would be pretty damn good to build around IMO. Depends on the deal though, what we're giving up etc. to take him on.
My pairings were based in Jokiharju playing in the WJC. I like the pairs you shared once he returns. - AEL_Fox
Yeah I figured, and I'd be game to try that out as well until Joki returns.
I think that is a possibility. I guess maybe the recently recalled Luke Johnson might slide into 4C or alternatively, if they like they could keep the current 3rd line intact and just move AA to 4C. (I think he spent a game or two there recently). I guess depends on what on Kane's other wing. My guess for next game.
Saad - Toews - Kahun
AA - Strome - Kane
DeBrincat - Kampf - Sikura
Hayden - Johnson - Perlini - breadbag
No way AA plays on the wing. That would kill his trade value. We need to play him at Center to market him and try and get as good of a return for him as we can before or possibly after the Deadline |

As far as consistency among the lines (within their respective roles) this line has been the best combination so far, and I say that while not being a fan of Martinsen at all. |

Kunitz is just finally a bald tire. He had a little tread the last couple years but that isn't the case now.
Manning has taken his game to a new level.........a lower level. Just playing worse across the board. |

Well I'm just saying what I think JC mght do. AA was playing wing yesterday. He might continue to play wing for the next game. |

Couldn't agree more. I'm not a huge fan of Martinsen or Hayden really but both have played solid in the 4th line checking role. Kruger has been solid all year really. People only really bag on him because of the salary he is owed (an expiring deal mind you as well). They have played very well and consistent all year long when playing together. I'm not one of the "Kruger lovers" but I wouldn't mind seeing him stay or moved at or before the Deadline depending on what teams are willing to cough up.

Anyone know what the deal with Alexander Wennberg? Kid had a 40 and then 59 point season back to back years and then has steadily fallen off since then. Could it be a Tortorella killing a guys career kinda thing? Or is it his own play? Haven't seen much Blue Jackets hockey this year so idk what the deal is.
He's got a cap hit of 4.9M for the next five years I believe, but he's only 24, 6'2, 195 Center who probably needs a change a scenery to get his game back up again. - Savetheembers33
Wennberg is a center I’ve been interested in for a while and worth kicking the tires on. Playmaker, decent on defense, middle 6 center who could shine as 2C in the right situation.
Not a bunch of attractive UFAs at center this summer so a trade would be a good option if an upgrade at center is in the cards. If so, consider Wennberg. |

I think on paper the plan is for AA to play "Center" but also rotate with Strome on the wing to get both experience there. Increases both players value. I doubt we'll see any real set lines until next year when JC really has his handprints on the roster and gets the combos he's looking forward and can begin building that chemistry in training camp

Same here. It's interesting he's struggled so much and they're looking to move him. Having him and Strome as our middle six Centers could really improve the teams depth up the middle for the next few years until some of the prospects are ready to be called up

I don't know about on paper. I'm just saying last night, he only took 1 faceoff and when his line was defending in their zone. Strome was in the middle and going down low to help the D while AA was up on the boards. Once they start coming through the middle, all three forwards floated around a lot as they Hawks juggled around trying to get through the neutral zone trap of the Preds. |

Pass. 3.85M for the next three years. I'd rather save money or spend it elsewhere. Guy no shows a Playoff contending team. What would he do coming to one of the last place teams in the league? |

Recorded the game last night, and just finished watching it. Even though he didn't get a point, I think Saad played his best game of the year.

I mean he was scratched back-to-back nights and then I guess no showed the team charter to Washington. Maybe he wasn't too pleased to be moved from St. Louis? |
