Convert him to wing. - tompo1015
Honestly, think that's easier said than done. Not saying it's not worth a look, but it's not full proof either. |

The defensive lapses are not so severe lately. Good on Gus to save a goal and score a goal. |

Gustie 8 on the year - maybe he stays - Colbyboy
Gus is now 4th in the NHL among d-men in goals this year.
I can’t believe there are people on this forum (and out there in general) that believe Goose is some sort of expendable piece of AHL trash.
Watch the game and you can see just how impactful of a player he can be. He’s easily the best offensive d-man this team has to offer, and there’s a reason JC uses him as much as he does.
Gus is hopefully going to be here as a key offensive contributor from the back end for a long time. He’s only one and a half seasons into his career for crying out loud. Boqvist, Joker, Gus, Mitchell, Beaudin are terrific assets to have... |

Beautiful DBC snipe right off a face-off
Saad looking good on the PK with multiple shorty opportunities
Dallas getting some good chances, but Ward stoning them so far. - pdx2ord
With the way Ward played last game and this period, it's his net to lose.

Agree. Other teams still are able to carry possession and a strong cycle game really hurts out defense, because our D-men either lack foot speed or they are soft.
That said, the all out shooting gallery, 2 on 0 breakaways have vanished. I think Murph and Dahly have helped there, the team has been a bit better since those two guys have settled in. |

Definitely agree, and agree with Wolf, Dahlstrom and Murphy back in the line-up has helped a lot too! |

Thank you for your original thought and sanity.
Gus just did in 2 games what Keith did in his last 118 - scored 2 goals...
Gus has a bit to go to reach that -29 Keith had last year.... |

I've noticed the boys have been clearing the defensive zone much better recently. There is NOTHING wrong with simply clearing the blue line. Make the other team get back on side. |

Totally agree. But Gus is a liability on defense. You want to maximize his offensive potential, while limiting his defensive short comings. |

Holy poop, what a great shift by Anisimov, started with great D-zone board work, then a masterful pass. Kaner closes the deal, 3-0 Hawks. This is a HELL OF A lot more fun than whatever it was. |

Murphy, Dahlstrom, Strome, and, I suppose, Perlini and Sikura have been welcome additions to the roster. |

Perlini has looked good this game, but all have been welcome additions.
Strome blocked shot, wide open net. |
