Lip reading here, but Namestnikov seems to have shouted "лысый белый трах" which is loosely, "Balding white whale" in meaning.
- AdamFrench

actually hilarious to me... that Namestnikov doesn't seem to realize why Getzlaf drilled him...

that's the part of old time hockey I miss... not the dumb staged fights...

"touch the goalie.... get drilled"

If he plays out this season, he needs 111 more games to break Gordie's record. You don't think that would be enough to convince him to want to play for another year and a half?
- BINGO!

Marleau isn't doing that, it isn't even a bad joke.
- TrashPanda

It was actually a very funny joke.

I laughed.

Sue me.

He turns 40 next September and he's on pace for another 40+ points this year. Dude hasn't missed a game in a decade.

If he doesn't win a cup this year, and he's still healthy, why wouldn't he keep trying? One last kick at the can for league minimum somewhere to try and finally get his name on that sucker and break the all-time games played record.

Reminds me of a game I played a few years ago (mens’ league, poop level).

Goalie makes save, kinda flops on the puck, doesn’t really know where it is. I can’t see the puck, so I just freeze. Whistle blows, and I say to the goalie, “If this is the playoffs, I’m digging for that puck.”

Defenceman next to me says, “Yeah, and if this is the playoffs, I’m crosschecking you.”

For sure he is. Ain't no way he's playing for the Leafs next year. He'll probably enjoy being an amateur scout in Saskatchewan for a year making 4mil
- walshyleafsfan

I think he will be here next season and the Leafs will keep him unless they win the cup this year.

He can scout wherever he wants for 4 mil per year. Think that (frank)er wants to be taking ice baths between periods when he's 42, playing on a team that's not gonna win the cup? Can't see it.

They'll just terminate like other teams are doing. Lose Gardiner and Nylander? Or just Marleau?

- walshyleafsfan

Unless he's willing to take less $$$ he is gone.

5.5 mil cap hit over 4 years.

I was playing catcher in a playoff game in a league that was more competitive than it should have been. The batter was blocking my view of the base path to my left. My fault, I should have been paying closer attention. The runner on third sprinted to steal, but I couldn't see him and my team didn't alert me in time. He body checked the batter into me and which knocked me away from the plate and the runner swiped the plate to win the game. Tied in extras.

I looked at the umpire who just said "Ballgame", and walked away.

I was not happy.

That just might work. I don't think anyone is gonna offer him 6-7 as a UFA. High scoring defensive liability 2nd pairing Dman can be had for less

Still don't understand why Hyman got a 2 game suspension for late hit on MacAvoy, but Brouwer didn't even get a hearing for his late hit on Kapanen.
One could argue that Brouwer's hit was much more dirty than Hyman's.

I think he clears 6 as a UFA pretty easily.

Over the last 3 years the dude has produced at a rate that's top 20 in his position.
