Yeah just wait. It will be so much fun watching leafs fan sweat in summer. and get so mad when Dubas trades Kapp for picks because he cant take back salary.
Ps looks like Nylander had to many timbits in offseason. Going to hurt trade value. - BigDog912
Summer???? why would I wait till summer? I think I'll go to cuba in April. I'll see if I can find a bar showing the first 2 Leafs playoffs series of the season. |

My prediction is
Wash
Pitts
CBJ
Tampa
Toronto
Boston
Buff
Rags - TheMussel
Pretty much the same, short of flipping a couple of teams in their spots.
Agreed that NYI and the Habs drop out. And Rags get that final spot. |

So who do you guys think makes the playoffs in the Eastern Conference??? It's a rather complicated picture.
Locks
Tampa
Leafs
Washington
In a playoff spot, but will probably drop out.
Islanders. Since their 5 game winning streak in october/Nov, they've gone 9 wins, 11 losses, and that includes their recent 3 game winning streak. In other words, they had a 6 win, 11 loss run. I don't think they COULD drop out, I think they WILL drop out.
Montreal - I think one of Boston or Montreal misses, and i thin kit's more likely Montreal.
In a playoff spot, will probably keep it, but no guarantees.
Boston - They'll probably make it, but if injuries continue, they could miss.
columbus - I think they probably make it, but they're not world beaters.
Buffalo - I do'nt see them dropping out at this point. But I think there is a good chance they end up in a wildcard spot. The third Atlantic seed will likely be them or Boston.
outside aplayoff spot, but will probably snag one.
Pittsburgh
NYR (playing pretty well, and Lundqvist is good enough to drag them to one singlehandedly).
tha'ts my perspective.
My bets:
Tampa
Leafs
Buffalo
Washington
Columbus
Pittsburgh
Boston
NYR

. . . Buffalo has been good, and while they may regress a little, they have a fair number of good pieces to compete. The Habs have certainly played well, and I don't think they're in it with the big boys, but they have a fast and decent team. I think the Rangers suck. I think Lundqvist has seen better days, too, so I doubt he'll be their saviour. The Islanders have also played way over their heads to start. They have some good young players, but not enough surrounding them.
To me the wildcard is that we'll all pick Pittsburgh to make it because of history, and Crosby/Malkin/Kessel, but man . . .they are not a good team right now. |

You think the Isles will turn it around and snag a playoff spot? Keep in mind, if they don't get that division seed, they actually have to catch Montreal and Boston, as they're currently behind them.
Your standings also would mean Buffalo would have to fall right past all of them. they're currently NINE points up on 9th. They need roughly 50 points in their last 47 games, which would near guarantee a spot. That's not really very difficult. |

I think it's between the Islanders (wtf?) and the Habs (again.... surprising) for that last spot.
Pittsburgh will make it, they just will.... I don't see any of the Rangers (who are falling off lately), Carolina, Ottawa or Florida turning things around enough to catch up if all things remain the same (aka Carey Price doesn't blow up a knee).
Islanders are playing surprisingly well under Trotz. |

Oh my God, I want Leafs vs. Buffalo in the first round.
The games would be fantastic, and the rivalry between the two fanbases would be off the hizzzzzzaaay. |

How can leafs afford another dman with current structure. According to cap geek they have 23 million in cap space next year. Best case scenario M&M cost 20 mil but more like 22-23 million. That at best leaves 3 million left to spend on 10 roster spots. even if you get rid of Horton and Marleau. You will have 15 million for 11 spots. That means everyone will have to average around 1.3 million. So you will need to trade Kappy and Johnsson for dman under rookie deal.
Please look at the Numbers you cant afford a Dman unless you trade Marner or Nylander. Simple as that. Even then he will have to be under 4 mill a year to make things work. - BigDog912
Let's wait and see what happens. That a problem for next season.
trade Marner or Nylander is NOT AN OPTION PERIOD!
Horton and Marleau are here till their deals are done.
Johnsson @ 1.2 x 2
Kappy @ 1.8 mil x 3
Marner @ 8 mil x 6
Mathews @ 11 x 8
So why are so concerned with the Leafs getting a Dman? |

Philly currently has a 47% winning percentage.
To get to 97 points (that's what you needed last year to make the playoffs), they'll have to play 67% hockey the rest of the season.
To put it in perspective, the Leafs are currently playing 68% hockey.
I don't think a coaching change can have that much of an effect.
The Flyers' season is already over. |

An interesting thought on Parayko.
If he’s indeed very available.
Trading Gardiner +one of Kap/Johnnson+a high conditional pick for him. Makes sense?
The Blues could flip Gards at the deadline.
Also keep in mind the Sabres have their 1st round pick...they won’t want to tank. Adding Gardiner until the TDL helps them not tank. |

I do like that Hart kid they played in net yesterday.
Good size, strong technique... good speed in his lateral movements....
Philly might finally have found a decent goaltender!

Philly always has decent goaltenders, until they scapegoat them and ruin them.
My favourite goalie story is Roman Cechmanek. The Philly faithful will tell you that he was a terrible goalie, cancer in the room, etc.
Except he was actually very, very good:
http://www.hockeydb.com/i...ts/pdisplay.php?pid=51275
What crime did he commit?
Well, in the playoffs, the entire team quit, lead by Jeremy "Me First" Roenick.
Cechmanek skated to the bench and yelled at the team to fire them up.
How did the Flyers respond?
By shooting pucks at his head all next practice.
Don't worry about the Flyers having a good goalie at the moment. They will destroy him - it's just a matter of time.
