The only thing that comes out of Manitoba is hockey players and Hookers and I don't see his name on a NHL roster.

Well done fellas. Solid mob troll yesterday in the oiler thread. Been a while since we've done that. Starting to get our swagger back. Who would have thunk it would take another swede to do it.

Replace the whale with the Tre Kronor!

God yes. At least I could participate. Draft prospects and fantasy lineups ain't my thing.

Slander and trash talk is my thing.

I dont think the Bolts could give up Foote for a rental Edler. He is the only RD prospect that they have and need him to replace Girardi or Stralman. They lost their only other legit D prospect last year getting McDonagh so I think the Bolts could only trade from their forward prospects and draft picks for Edler.
- stammerman

Right hand D shouldn't be a problem. We could throw in a lightly-used Alex Biega, or the rights to Nikita Tryamkin. (He's a lefty but prefers the right side.)

Either one would quickly become fan favorites for you guys.

I don't think the Canucks will move Tanev this season. They will probably keep him for next year to support Q. Hughes' transition to the NHL. Edler's likely the big piece this year, and yes probably as a rental and re-sign.

Maybe with some salary retained and draft picks or other pieces exchanged to balance things out, Tampa would part with Cal Foote? Canucks desperately need high-end D prospects who aren't 5 years away.

Agree on both counts. I think Edler goes at TDL and Tanev next year after another 40 game injury...for peanuts...

If they do trade Edler to Tampa then I'd almost expect Tryamkin's rights to be thrown in. TB loves bigger dmen and they don't mind Russian players.

If they don't plan on re-signing him then yes, but if they approach him about a trade and re-sign scenario then I think he'll be stubborn and stay.

Also, if the teams keeps this ".500" record then I'm not so sure that he's even going to be available.

I think if they're more proactive with Edler than they were with Hamhuis he'll probably waive. Especially if they lay things out with Edler the way they did with Bieksa. "You're not coming back, where do you want to go and settle in?"

Playoff hopes are still a long shot. The team would need to play 105ish point hockey to close the season to get themselves up to ~95 points. Something like 12 wins over 500 for the rest of the year just to reach the bottom end of probability.

On point pace alone, they've got to leap frog three of Edmonton, Vegas, Dallas and Minnesota. They're only a hair up on Arizona as it stands now too.

The playoff races always seem tighter than they are when you're a bit outside. Its that death spot that NYI and Carolina always seem to occupy in the east.

This is the key, if he and the team(s) wanting to trade for him are willing to sign him to an extension then I think it'll be more likely that he waives. Worse case in his mind is that he plays on 3 different teams in the year 2019.

The lack of negotiations or even contact with his agent regarding an extension is a good strategy. It's giving him time to come to the realization that he may very well have to move on. His agent should be encouraging him to increase his market value and bargaining position with other teams by showcasing himself in the playoffs with a good team.

The Canucks have to take an asset-management approach to this TDL. It's a make or break opportunity to build what could be a legitimate contender in 4-5 years.

I would hate to hear that we are in a playoff hunt and aren't moving anybody.

nothing would surprise.

I'm all for moving anyone not part of the young core.

I just mean when it comes to Sutter I'm fine with him being here in three years. I'm all for trades of anyone over 25, but I like Sutter and don't see a hugre regression happening because of how he plays.

I have no issues with how Sutter plays either but he's averaging only 50 games a season since he started with Vancouver. 3 Years is a long ways off with that kind of injury history. Might be better to try and move him if you can at some point next year. Otherwise he's probably going to be a buyout candidate.
