There were several blatant elbows thrown by Tampa players prior to the Stecher hit that were not called.
Good learning experience for the younger Canucks though. No matter how good you are, play cheap, play dirty, take no prisoners, do whatever it takes to win.
The idea that the refs and league will take care of you is a belief from the Sedin era that needs to be flushed away as quickly as possible. Yes, speed and skill are important. But when it comes down to it, you also need to be able to beat them in the back alley as well. - YeOldTimer

I didn't get to watch, but the second intermission radio guys comments suggest this is the understatement of the year worthy? |

Agreed.
We also are limited for players who can or are capable of responding appropriately and the capable ones did exactly that. - Reubenkincade
This is a big load of crap. Anyone with balls can respond. Isn't that what this fan base has been clamouring for? I'm pretty sure Boeser got in a tussle at the end of the second. We want every player to respond, and every player to feel like every other player has their back. |

He may never play an NHL game at this rate... |

I only seen highlights of this game, but by all accounts, the game was entertaining, shots were even, and the boys showed that they can compete with the best in the league, despite not having nearly the same amount of talent.
This team finally showed they have some balls and pretty good character.
I said at the start of season and I will say it again, if the team plays well, and still loses, fine, the entertainment factor, compete level and improvement, at this stage of the rebuild is what matters most.
A game like that brings the team closer together and helps build confidence for moving forward, well done boys. - Reubenkincade

Guys can come back from injuries, but missing so much time during the most critical development years can take you down to Ryan Murray territory. |

5 year contracts for both with NTC! Edler earned it with his knee and Hutton with his knuckles. |

Not disagreeing with you are saying that every player should be able to respond, but realistically the 4 guys I mentioned, are by far the most capable.
I really doubt that, Granlund, Goldobin, Erickson, Gaudette, Petterson, Motte or Tanev are willing or capable of responding.
As a matter of fact, if you see the Virtanen/Mattel situation, you will see Goldobin standing on the outskirts of the scrum, with stick in hand, doing nothing.
Good on Brock for doing something as well. These boys are learning. |

My legit first thought at this news was "(frank) me, Jimbo's gonna hang onto Edler no matter what now."
Hutton can stay. he's proved himself a fine second pairing player. But its time to move on from Edler before he's Hansen/Higgins level useless. |

The biggest black eye is the D Sedin getting repeatedly punched by Marchand yes?
I would hope that every player, regardless of stature, wouldn't just take that. I don't mean that Goldy has to jump into a scrum fists flying, but you would hope he doesn't stand by eating (gloved) knuckle sandwiches. |
