We are pretty much down to Quick, Anderson and Howard as top targets unless somehow you might work a deal for Talbot who's lost his job in Edmonton. But Talbot's game this year has been Flyer goalie like. I listed the first three in the order of preference but even that is a no thanks from me on any of them unless something else is coming that will fix the other issues. - dragonoffrost
Few others, (thought of), options are Dell in SJ, or Lehner in NYI.
Just as possibilities, (teams that have a backup who may want to be a starter someplace else?)
Anderson is I think Ottawa's only proven starter, & Quick's age/contract is not pretty.
Talbot is also a possibility. |

Perhaps a new era is upon us. Have they found the "chosen one"? |

If anyone here says they know what to expect out of this team tonight, they are lying.
I'm just hoping Hart doesn't get shelled. - johndewar
I'm with you.
This season went sideways, then down a steep and dark hole. |

I'd like to try:
Raffl - Giroux - Voracek
Laughton - Couturier - Weise
Lindblom - NoPa - Konecny
JVR - Varone - Simmonds
Not a huge fan of Weise up there but I really would like to see the kids on line 3 and honestly Weise > Simmonds this season - xShoot4WarAmpsx[/quote]
Ummm no. I am the first to say I would trade Simmonds but Simmonds scores 20 in his worse season. |

Nothing to do with the league figuring them out.. Every team has extensive video and advanced scouting on the opposition PP. - MJL
Lmao what? this same stupid statement can be applied to our PK... Which sucks if you weren't aware. Books been out on Caps PP for years, seems to still work just fine. |

What does it say about Weal if the coach who had him in LV won't dress him?
I'm not sure those D pairs are going to help unless they've been coached to play differently on the bottom 2 pairs. We've seen those before and they weren't great. - dragonoffrost
well Gordon hasn't been here so I imagine he is going to rely a little on the assistants input until he has a better handle on the team, but yeah, Weal hasn't really earned playing time. I was one who wanted him re-signed. he has been a disappointment tho. I didn't expect him to be a top 6 player but I did expect him to be a solid enough 3rd line guy. |

I'm excited for Hart. At this point just let him split time with Neuvirth and Elliot till the end of the season. No need to try and get a goalie, Crawford and Schneider are injured again. That is only going to raise the price of Quick. Anyone else that is "available" will not be an improvement. I only say pick up Anderson as an extra piece to be a 1a 1b option. - youarewrong
I don't know, unless he comes in and wins the starting job, once Elliott and Stolaz are healthy I think I send him back to the Phantoms for a playoff run. Obviously if he shows he is ready to be a starter all bets are off and he stays |

JVR on the 3rd line with no real playmaker is a waste. - Briere
I'm gonna guess this is going to be the theme for JvR for 5 years....
So basically for JvR to produce he needs a player on his line that is a great possession player who can draw multiple players to him and pass the puck to him while he stands near the net to put in open net goals? Oh and a center who is good defensively that can cover up his defensive liabilities.
Didn't he play with Giroux? Let me guess, he wasn't given a chance he needs a full 82 games with him to find his groove. So far he has played 15 games and at most has played 2-3 decent games for the Flyers. He needs to fix himself before putting him with other top players because that will only drag them down. |

Really hate to say it but this signing might turn out to be a really really bad one. If he's not scoring goals he really is useless. Brings nothing to the table, not physical, not anything. |

Seems like a measured decision to have Gordon promoted on the interim basis and even to keep the assistant coaches for the time being. Guys like Sanheim and Lindblom should see a bump and hopefully he is contemplating bringing up guys like Myers and Friedman.
This gives Fletcher time to assess and bring in the correct coaching staff as well as personnel moves to attract the correct coaches.
Hopefully the market is conducive to fair trade. Anyone here outside of Bill speaking on the trade market temperature without evidence is a buffoon who warrants being tarred and feathered. |

I think everyone assumed that at the very least, JVR would help make the PP convert more. Hummmm....And here we are.

He is a frustrating player for me going back to his first stint with the Flyers, which is one reason why the Flyers were willing to trade him in the first place. He is a big body with obvious skill and great hands, but what holds him back is his head. I know the Flyers look horrible this year and that makes everyone look bad, but he is so lazy and he did the same thing in Toronto. People just look at the fact he had 30+ goals in Toronto so that means he is a great player. He is so dependent on everyone to produce and his defensive game is so weak that it can bring a line down. He just doesn't create anything on his own and hopefully if the team can turn it around then he will benefit from it. |

He's 15 games into a 5 year contract and you're already saying this signing is going to be really really bad? Holy (frank). |

There were times when i watched Toronto last year and thought he was there best player, somehow getting 13 minutes a night. I have not thought he was our 5th best player on any night. His game is very simple and if he's not getting a few chances at the front of the net he is completely ineffective. |

The thing is that is his game. He's not gonna carry the puck through the neutral zone, hes gonna cycle pucks, make a few touch passes, and get to the front of the net. Not much to his game. |

100%. He was signed to bring depth to the lineup and to make a decent PP into an even stronger one. My expectations were just that, not to be an offense force, but with the team playing so poorly his worth truly shines. Even the Flyers don't see him coming in scoring 30+ goals, they have said multiple times that if he can come in and add another 20-25 goals to the lineup then great. |

I know his game very well, especially watching 70+ games of him in Toronto the last few years. He looks exactly like he did in Toronto, but the team around him is not doing what they did in Toronto for him to score. That is the price you pay for getting that type of player. |

In his defense, he has only played 15 games lol maybe we should give it some time. But frustrating to watch at the moment, whole team is tho too |

I know...in my previous comment I said just that and in those 15 games he has played with most combos of linemates. There was a reason he played lower minutes for Toronto, being successful with low minutes isn't always equivalent to the same success with more minutes. As you know there is a reason Hyman was played on the top line instead of JvR for the Leafs. |

This...is....Flyerbuzz....hyperbole.
Wait someone didn't say a player is awesome so binary thinking says....they said they suck. Reading...it does wonders. |
