A good trade would bring a lot of ridemption to the pick. - VANTEL
Imagine a world where in 2016 the Canucks draft Tkachuk instead of Juolevi. Don't you think with the state of the organization come the end of the following season the pressure to draft a Dman would have been so enormous that Benning would have no choice but to do it?
The way i see it taking Tkachuk almost certainly would have meant not getting Pettersson. |

I found it when I was doing my hours and hours of research about shortcuts. I had forgotten you were a Benning supporter at one time, as I was only a lurker at that time and didn't join up until after our friend from New York signed up. - Reubenkincade
Bringing up things from years ago is dumb Ruby. Things and styles change year to year.
I have seen quotes from me brought up from 2014 about liking Lucic when in 2015 I didn't like Lucic. The style of the game has changed since then.
I know at the end of last year I wanted Benning fired now I don't care. Winning changes things. |

Was Nuck4U your alter account?
In my humble opinion, Jim Benning is now a much better GM than when he first arrived here. I'm sure he thought he could change things in a hurry here, which he actually said, but he's come to the realization after four and half years on the job that it's not as easy as he'd thought. - LeftCoaster
Had no choice . A team usually doesn't fire a GM if the owner likes the team and thinks the GM is doing a good job.
Benning was hired to fix it and fix it fast. |

What do you guys think of Markstrom ? Is he turning the corner or do we go and sink huge money into a goalie? - VANTEL

Boston did really well trading Lucic for Miller and Jones and a 1st then Boston traded Jones 4 days later for another 1st the next season.
So really trading that POS Lucic got them Miller, Kuraly and 2-1st
Too bad Boston didn't make what they could have out of those picks.
Too bad they let Colin Miller go before he got good. |

Weisbrod and Brackett missed on Drake Batherson in the 4th round of the 2017 draft.
He looks better than Alex Formenton. |

I'm ok passing on Tkachuk as he is a massive tool. Don't need that crap on the ice here anymore. OJ will be fine. No guarantees Tkachuk develops here the way he did in Calgary with our rosters/coaches the past 2/3 seasons either. |

Twelve months ago I'd hoped, and stated, that Juolevi would become a Vlasic type of dman, now I think he's nothing more than Ben Hutton. Meh....you can't get em all right I guess. Moving along! - LeftCoaster

Thank God I have Tavares, Marner and Gardiner, they're getting me good amounts of points. Dubnyk and Kinkaid on the other hand are not pulling their weight in net. |

Too much water under the bridge, I still don't like the man for what he's done, but I'm not afraid to admit I think he's better on the job now than when he first arrived. Having been an assistance GM for several years I thought he'd be better at the job being so involved in multiple things in Boston. Contracts, trades, scouting, drafting.
I didn't think he was a rookie, even though he technically was, having been around the NHL for so long. I didn't think he was a guy that needed to learn on the job. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. He wasn't a young guy, he'd been around for a long time and knew a lot of the GM's around the league.
He made some nice moves his first year, I was excited about the Virtanen and McCann picks. But then he started to reach instead of rebuild, pressure from Aquilini I'm assuming. That's when I started to get annoyed. - LeftCoaster
I love me a good re-narrative.

I love when you ride your donkey to the top of a mountain up there with a coat hanger sticking out of your pocket so you can get reception and participate in an actual live conversation instead of talking to us like it was two days ago |
