A good trade would bring a lot of ridemption to the pick.

I get the feeling Olli Juolevi is going to be the next Ryan Murray (Columbus), and that's definitely not a good thing.

I'd be 100% down for the trade you proposed if Carolina has soured on him enough to shop him. One of Beagle or Sutter has to go eventually unless you want to convert one to a full time W, which is kinda annoying since part of why they have those cap hits is because they're centers.

Carolina wants a scoring winger apparently, their new owner isn a head case. He said that they'll never draft a dman in the first round as long as he owns the first team

They need a third line center. Time to bring Sutts back to the place it all started

Isn't Murray more of a defensive dman? That's what I've been seeing whenever he's discussed. Everyone laughed at Burkie, but if he was telling the truth, he was right about Reilly being better than Yak/Murray/Galchenyuk,

He needs to engage a bit in the D zone. He likes to avoid using his body and uses his stick

No he was touted as a great offensive dman, he had 21 points his first year in Columbus and he was offensive in Everett, he just can't stay healthy.

that and his skating needs work. Which is bizarre because he seemed like a good skater during his draft year. Every since he put on weight, he's struggled skating backwards and turning.

the good news is that the skill and hockey sense is there.

No he was touted as an offensive guy in the WHL and during his draft year. He was smooth and a good puck transition guy. Not a great offensive player but very safe and a good skater.

Nice edit lol, you originally said 43 points in his first year

I don't remember him ever being touted as a true offensive dman, more of a jack of all trades minute muncher that can put up 30-40 points with solid defense and plays all situations. I definitely remember him being praised for his all-around play.

Here's a scouting report from 2011/12 on him.

"One of the main reason’s that Murray will be drafted very high in next summer’s draft is that his skill set is tremendous. His skating ability and decision-making on the ice are outstanding, and his puckmoving ability is arguably his best talent. Sounds a bit like Scott Niedermayer, doesn’t it? Even though is offensive ability is off the charts, Ryan doesn’t shy away from physical play, and always seems to be in the right position. Size isn’t a concern with Murray, as the 6’1″, 195 pound blueliner is plenty capable of handling himself against larger opponents. Strength isn’t an issue either, as Murray says that the key to being a top defenseman is “using body position and keeping a good stick, you don’t have to be able to crush guys.”

Twelve months ago I'd hoped, and stated, that Juolevi would become a Vlasic type of dman, now I think he's nothing more than Ben Hutton. Meh....you can't get em all right I guess. Moving along!

Benning on Hutton: “I’ve always felt it takes defencemen longer to develop. He was challenged at the end of the year to play faster and quicker. So far, he’s been good and reliable and I think he’s back on course

If the rumours about his personality are true, then I agree, stay away from him. How about sign Myers to play with Edler and then get a partner for Hughes on the second pairing?

Edler Myers
Hughes ???

- LeftCoaster

I'd only be interested in Edler as a bottom pair guy...at a bottom pair price. Myers I would be fine with. Though he's kinda like another guddy

Found this interesting quote from a couple years back.😁
Anyone guess who may have made that comment?

I love the pick for sure, but there's no rush to get him in the lineup. Benning is rebuilding the prospect pool thru the draft very nicely, in three drafts he's got some really good young players!

Finishing 5th last and 3rd last in the past three years really helps though. Finishing that low isn't a rebuild on the fly, it's a rebuild from flat out suckage. Although, it's not an Oilers or Leafs scorch the earth sell everything rebuild, it's more like what the Kings and Hawks did
