What do you guys think of Markstrom ? Is he turning the corner or do we go and sink huge money into a goalie?
- VANTEL

i stand pat. i cant stomach spending much on a tendy. bob's next contract will be an anchor imo.

not quite sure about TDL this year. i would ultimately be ok with letting nilly finish out the year unless there's a legit deal to be made for him.

maybe bring in a 3rd string ufa type in the summer to compete with demko and send to utica

Do you think both goalies to go or just one? I wouldn't mind trying Demko and Marky.
- VANTEL

Just one! They'll ease Demko into it imo, hopefully he plays so well they won't be able to take him out

I bought a new laptop and lost some of my bookmarked articles that I read this past summer. I read a great one that basically showed how stupid it was to pay a goalie big bucks. The conclusion was that you ideally want to find a decent enough workhorse goalie who isn't one of your top 4 or 5 paid players and you're better off going with stopgaps instead of paying one big bucks until you can find one like that.

Better off paying big bucks for another point producer if you have money to burn.

Not sold on Marky being that guy, but he's decent enough to be a stopgap until we find one(hopefully Demko)

At the beginning of the year I would say get rid of Markstrom and Nilly but the tending has been decent so I would like to go forward as Lefty said Demko backing up Markstrom

It will be interesting to see what they do with the back end this year

There's not a lot of highend guys available to upgrade the defense, personally I'd try and get Erik Karlsson to sign in Vancouver to add to our Swedish tradition. He's only 28 years old, prime for a dman, and he's one of the best offensive defensemen of this era. A seven year deal only brings him to 35 years old, Edler would be a great partner for him.

That signing scares the crap out of me. I don't like it at all.

I wouldn't hate it, but it's exactly who Quinn is. Seems a bit redundant to me. He might really like it though and it is New Sweden

Same. Don’t get me wrong, he would instantly make the Canucks better, but it’s the back half of that deal that would keep me up at night.

Meh....it's just money, you don't care about all the money Benning's wasted over the last five years so what's another 11 million a year, we have the room.

Get rid of Gudbranson, Schaller and Sutter and there's the money for Eriksson.

I answered Vantel's question. That's one way to improve the defense instantly without any cost to our prospect system.

That is the next logical step, plus he turns 20 in June so I don't believe he has to be returned to Junior.

I think , atleast on this recent hot streak that the team as a whole has tightened up defensively limiting quality chances and second and third opportunities. When that happens, surprise surprise goalie stats begin to look much better. Speaking to markstroms game on its own ... he seems quieter in the net. Not as jumpy. And he has been much better at kicking rebounds to the corner now instead of back out to the slot.

Technically, that improves the offense, he is about as good as Pouliot defensively.

Well if he's got the puck a lot, along with Quinn Hughes, then the other team won't have it now will they

I would go with build through the draft . The irony of this debate between the two of us is really funny. We switched places
