Did Neuvirth get an upper body injury from cutting the umbilical cord?
- Buzzo

Dude can't stay on the ice. You think he'd plan on having a child during the off-season.

Come on, man -- you make it sound like there's nobody out there -- hell, Rick Wilson was out there, right?

Q's assistants got cut loose. There are guys out there. Don't be lazy and act like there's NOBODY out there

- AllInForFlyers

Not saying that.

But why am i hiring someone only to fire him if I get Quenneville.

Understand. I get it.

But Gordon now should come up and put his mark on how he wants his poop run. They are assistants for a reason. they follow the head coaches strategy and philosophies now.

It’s a shame that they waited 2 years too long to fire hakstol. Having to walk into the arena 41 times a year where people are chanting for you to be fired isn’t fair to anyone.
- Shrike

You are clearly ignoring last season where they improved by ten points and finished third.

But what about the ESCOBIRDS!

Exactly what he said at the end of his quick hand back schtick from the presser

Ok. This is good. Fletcher playing it nice and slow.

I’ve said it before, the Flyers should phantom tank the rest of the season for Hughes. In other words, prop up the facade that they are trying to win yet this year to placate the “we do things the right way” crowd, while actually doing the right thing and letting this tire fire burn to a crisp.

Are you even being serious right now?

Lappy's PK has been ass for YEARS. The PP's been on the way down since Mullen got screwed over

They're almost dead last on both -- it is nonsensical to state that all of a sudden, incompetence is going to get smarter. Do you think Dave Hakstol sat there and said his philosophy was to not have the PP score?

That’s kind of the vibe I got from watching. Maybe wishful thinking, but it’s exactly what these guys need.

Sell, and load up with new pieces and coaches for next season. So be it.

Expects Scott to be the coach for the rest of the year.

Fletch says he hasn't spoken to Q.

It was a great year last year. I still have the Finished Third in a Tough Metro and Improved by Ten Points banner hanging in my room.

Did he say till the end of the year or till the end of the season... one happens in 14 days, the other is a long time from now.... lol

I thought about this and then remembered that hockey front office guys don't have senses of humor.

They probably should, at this point -- I hate it, but the math isn't kind. Wasted too many (frank)ing points already, running with the same incompetent assistants, calling up a 20-year-old goaltender to save all their asses

Assistants don't just run their own areas without the head coaches stamp on it.

While I understand and not against moving on from them....I'll let Gordon try to put his ideas on the PP and PK and see what happens.

Sweet cheeks, i don’t think you see new assistants until a new HC.

A soft tank, and I’ll be joyful.

The point is hiring assistants now and then firing them when a new coach makes his staff is not a corporate move. They'll keep the underlings here then let the new full time guy bring his people.

They didn't call up Hart to save anything. They simply don't have any other goalies available (Lyon just returned from injury and didn't look ready to be on the big club IMO).

This. I'm surprised Hakstol didn't get "promoted."

I'd imagine local sports talk radio has given this an extensive 45 seconds worth of coverage before returning to "IGGLES!!! SUPER BOWL REPEAT!!!"

He did. They played well and, if they get a lot of help from others teams, they may even make it in as a wild card.

But I think that a team firing its coach is a bit more newsworthy than a regular season win/loss.
