NHL is a two goalie system. Wouldn't be surprised to see Ullmark here for the next 7-8 years even if its backing up UPL when he ultimately takes the mantle.

Where's all this UPL will dominate Ullmark speculation coming from. The guy is in +1 draft year dominating the OHL. He looks good right now, but he's unrefined. Goalies take years.

Even if that were the case, UPL would still be exempt and the Sabres would be ass clowns to protect an almost 36 year old goalie with 1 year left. With or without Ullmark on the team.

I honestly wouldn't have even been upset if we missed the playoffs this year and added another stud C. But yea we are due for some playoff hockey and I don't think anyone could of predicted us sitting in 2nd in the Atlantic in mid December. I expected us and Florida to fight for the last playoff spot before the season started. I think we ultimately finish in the first wildcard spot and we'll play Ovi and the Caps in the first round.

He's only 25 as well. He is still developing. Could be an above average #1 for us as soon as next season. With Hutton and Ullmark pushing each other goaltending is the least of my worries right now.

They've been mentioning a lot recently that Hutton and Ullmark seem to have a pretty tight relationship too. Really work well together and have formed quite the camaraderie. Would be nice if Hutton could teach Ullmark the puck handling side of things a bit. I'm sure he'll never be quite as good as Hutton is at that aspect, but can't hurt to build up that part of his game some.
