We'd have to get a hell of a major player back in order for me to think it's a good idea, and as much as I love Ullmark, that's unrealistic. It just doesn't make sense to make that kind of move right now.

Like I said, the thought of Wedgewood being the backup for the rest of the season is terrifying.

McDavid, Matthews and Laine are better than Jack as these players can single handedly change a game and elevate the rest of the team which is something Jack lacks. If not for Skinner we would still be in the basement.

I legit was just telling a friend last night that it's so nice to be like "oh, the backup is in tonight" and not automatically resign myself to the fact that it's going to be a loss for us.

I wouldn't be surprised if we've won more games on the back end of a back to back so far this year than we did for the last like 3 seasons combined. (that may be a bit of an exaggeration, but you get the point).

Ullmark being here probably played a role in that. There was nothing between him and Quick in LA that could have posed a long-term threat.

Yes. If you're the Sabres, you do all you can to sign both. But in Peterson's eyes, they had probably expressed to him that he was behind Ullmark in the pecking order, and he didn't want to sit behind another young goalie. He chose a recently successful franchise, getting the chance to ride behind a respected and talented goalie and to learn behind him for a few years before taking over.

IMO, Kadri should be a nice trade chip to get a couple bottom 6 forwards or back end D man. Im a little surprised they didnt claim the D men the hawks sent down. Want to say it was Rutta?

we will never know, I do know we had a new gm and there was a chance for cal to compete for a starting spot

all he had to do was beat out lehner and ullmark and chad made it clear he was not going to sign for the sabres, hence the chad johnson signing
