FWIW JZ at the score on Keith:

Duncan cover -- I believe Duncan Keith played his worst game as a Blackhawk on Sunday night. His effort level was clearly lacking to anyone paying attention, and his "ole" of a checking opportunity allowed the play that left Crawford with a concussion to happen. I’ve said it time and time again on the Madhouse Podcast: It’s the Blackhawks' core that needs to pull the team out of this funk. But too often, it’s been the veterans pulling them deeper into the depths. It would be understandable if Keith had just simply lost a step and couldn’t do it anymore, but there has been a blatant lack of intensity and urgency to his game that I’ve found troubling.

I know some think his trade value would be better at the TDL, but the more teams watch him play this season I’m not so sure.

I get the criticism about Keith on that play, but it was not just on him. Strome was behind the goal line deep, DeBrincat got knocked down trying to shoot and Kane makes a so-so effort to get the loose puck, putting all 3 forwards deep. Then Joki should have realized and backed off, but instead he tries to poke the puck and gets beat...(credit to him when he does this he often at least gets a piece of the guy beating him). That play was mistake + mistake + mistake IMO. Lots of blame to go around on the breakdown and it would have been worse against a faster team.

That might not be the deal, but I also think the Hawks won't give away Duncan Keith for spare parts either. Keith is still a guy that would be top 3 D on any team in the league and the Hawks don't "need" to move him. His contract is good and he is a smart competitor. They can wait for a decent offer or just keep him.

Exactly. Keith brings so much to the table and several competitive teams need that last defensive piece (Toronto, Edmonton, etc).

If Vermette (a 3rd line center) can fetch a prospect and a 1st at the TDL. I'm sure Keith can fetch far more.

You move him sooner if his play/attitude becomes a detriment to the team and player development. Grade 5 marketing diploma!?!? Geezus. The core as a whole needs a get it together talk. You are the leaders. LEAD!
- z1990z

You know who needs to lead - Jeremy Colliton. If he thinks Keith is an attitudinal detriment to the team then he should healthy scratch him. It has happened to other name players around the league .

That was in 2015. 4 years ago. And the "prospect" the hawks traded away was Klas Dahlbeck.

I just see value in the fact that he isn't just a rental. He can still play for 2-3 more seasons after this one. He won't be the top Dman in the league, but if you have good players, he can really add that extra element.

the philly beat reporter is saying that Q is out in Colorado and claims he does not even want to think about coaching till after the holidays.
- kmw4631

My guess is that he's agreed to take the PHI job after he enjoys the holidays with his family.

That agreement was likely just made and this leaked into the public.

Hakstol is now out and Gordon is the interim coach (probably with the understanding that Q is taking the reigns soon).

Can’t say as I blame him, I’d be enjoying the paid vacation too.

Maybe its the planned vacation causing the delay.

Or maybe he has told Fletcher and Holmgren that they have 2 weeks to find him a f'n goaltender who is better than a ball hockey kid playing with his buddies in the drive way.

Does PHL have to compensate the hawks?

Speaking of which, another potentially good trade partner for Keith, for the same reasons as the Yotes. The Avs may be willing to pay a bit more for him since they are somewhat of a contender. Could make a trade conditional to getting past the 2nd round.

I will repeat....IF Duncan Keith doesn't get walked like a cone at center ice, Corey Crawford is still playing hockey tomorrow. Keith does a pinch as last man back at the Red Line, gets neither the man nor the puck...and the rest is history. I'd trade Keith tomorrow, if possible. His play is falling off a cliff, his attitude/work ethic is definitely questionable, and he would get the Hawks some major assets for the rebuild.

EDIT: Seabrook should retire out of pride. His play is an embarrassment and taints his great legacy as an elite 200ft Dman. He simply cannot keep up with the NHL pace anymore. To think he is signed through 2024....insane! That deal alone should cost StanBo his job, yesterday!

The only problem with that is finding contenders that can afford to carry his $5.5ml cap hit for the next four seasons.

Some time soon I think Keith, Toews, Kane and maybe a couple of others will be called in to a meeting and asked if they want to move on or prefer to stay on for the rebuild.

The 'remodel job' is apparently not working.

Nope. No players or picks. I believe Q has a clause in his contract that he will get payed his $6 million regardless. How that would be split between the Hawks and another team, I don't know.

Whoever was on the blue line(Who (frank)ing refused to play the body) , was that Keith? Caused that whole (frank)ing play to happen.

Being physical matters in hockey , no matter how many times you guys say the game has changed blah blah blah blah, the whole damn league is comfortable running into Crawford, taking liberties at will. (frank)ing Keith , only gets a little physical when his feeling are hurt. Cant wait for them to trade Keith.

Its pathetic when DeBrincat is the toughest hockey player on the team.

Come to your senses Enzo. If you or I had that contract we aren't retiring out of pride and neither wil Seabs. He will play goalie in rubber boots if that's whats necessary to keep them pay cheques coming.

The Hawks feel the need to win every trade in either player quality or principal. (Like Schmaltz for 2 NHL players or Saad for cost certainty)

For the Hawks to unload any veteran that certainly wouldn't be the case. They would lose that deal in value and principal and would hace to admit to a rebuild / tank this year.

Feel bad for Crawford but this hurts the rebuild . If Crawford healthy I think we could have received good package of draft picks and or prospects. Really don't think we will get a lot for Keith because of the length of contract.

it was joki with a rookie pinch attempt but he took the body on one man. it was an aggressive pinch by Joki but Keith has to stay back and play the 2v1 there. IF he decides to be aggressive he has to take the man or the puck, he let Pavelski walk around him and the rest is history.
