Slim. He's had some difficulty at the AHL level. But you never know with these things.
If I were the Flyers I wouldn't be calling him up yet. - BINGO!
Or is it an audition for a DK trade?? |

Hes lights out now. He has really improved. almost 7 games now he is 1.94 and save % over 930. Or something like that lol. But yah, he isn't ready yet. Not for this garbage. |

Not a chance. Not getting Carter Hart for a 30 plus dman on the downward slope. Maybe you can grab a Robert haag or a Freidman and a pick. We have lots of prospects so anything is possible. |

No. Absolutely not.
Trading Hart for Keith would be beyond idiotic. |

Nice. Yeah, I'd be letting him dominate in the AHL instead of throwing him into the absolute poopshow that is the Philadelphia Flyers.
It's astounding to me how bad the Flyers bottom 6 are. How is Jori Lehtera in the NHL at all?
Hart will be the 6th(!!!!) goaltender the Flyers have used this year. |

Its a dumpster fire. No idea how Lethera is playing. He needs to go and go now to the ahl. Hart should be nowhere near this. Is he a good goalie..yes. But he doesn't deserve this. |

That might not be the deal, but I also think the Hawks won't give away Duncan Keith for spare parts either. Keith is still a guy that would be top 3 D on any team in the league and the Hawks don't "need" to move him. His contract is good and he is a smart competitor. They can wait for a decent offer or just keep him. |

The Flyers have a problem that is best described as having a lot of very good individual players that for some reason doesn't add up or translate to being a good team. Their achilles heel is between the pipes and always has been. All of those G men stink and can never be relied on in tight or important games. My guess is that it affects the team to the negative mentally. That team should never be this bad. |

I don't mind the money for Seabs, I truly dont, it's the term. I hated that extension the moment it broke. I wonder if Bowman would have looked at the cap, and Seabs' declining play, as he was extended before his contract was even up, and reconsidered. Maybe that aav for 4-5 years or on a year-to-year basis like Jumbo Joe is doing with SJ.
Paul said it best, without the 5 guys, we don't win any cups. Kane's nickname is Showtime, yeah, he's a fun guy to watch come that time. I still get chills when gets the three lines shaved in his playoff haircut. I knew he meant business. Toews gave everything and double for 2015. Hossa has left the biggest of all-time holes on this team. Who's going to fill those skates? Ever again for any team? Kessler talked about our Top 4 d men: Keith, Seabs, Hammer, and Oduya (who were worked like dogs and answered the bell every time.) Kessler said, "If that's your top 4, then your going to win every time. It's unfair to play against." Crow deserved mvp one of those cup years. Hell, we could have three-peated! Totally, Kane is the best player, but if you're missing just 1 player, I don't think any cups come into Chicago.
If we saw Crow play his last game, I will be happy, because his health and being there for his family is more important. Sure, I'll be upset, but he's in charge right now when he recovers. I'm fine if he wants to come back, or of he wants to take it easy.
Arizona might want 6 mil on their books for LTIR...... - I Am The Breadman
I look at Arizona as a better trading partner for Keith. Good size cap hit for minimal dollars.
Keith Cap hit $5,538,462
Keith salary:
2019/20 $3,500,000
2020/21 $2,650,000
2021/22 $2,100,000
2022/23 $1,500,000 |

The only urgency to trade Keith is to keep the posters on this board happy and engaged.
Trading him in December for a paltry return like a #2 pick is ridiculous.
If somebody really wants to see #2 engaged again trade him to Montreal so they can pair him up with his buddy Shea Weber in front of Price.
Myself, I would love to see him playing for Winnipeg. |

About Jan Rutta in his first game for Rockford.
@Mario_Tirabassi
#IceHogs HC Derek King on Jan Rutta: "He settled in. You can see he is an #NHL player. We're gonna take advantage of having him here & hopefully his play will open some eyes, maybe with another team, & he'll get outta here & be where he should be, in the NHL."
#IceHogs HC Derek King on the plan for Jan Rutta in RFD: "I'll take him for the whole year if he's going to play like he did in the 2nd & 3rd period. I'm not sure what the plans are. Maybe CHI will being him back up, maybe a scout will see he fits their team."
King added: "With what CHI has & how their season's going, maybe they try different looks & bring other guys up. Either way, I think he's an #NHL player & he just needs to buy his time. He was great in the locker room today, he's a good kid. I'm sure he'll do fine."
Jan Rutta on his mindset coming to the #IceHogs from the #Blackhawks: "It wasn't a good start to the year. I'm here to work, looking forward to the work & you never know what's going to happen. Just wanna help the team & get better as a player & we'll see."#RFDvsTEX#AHL

He's still old and is signed long term. That's the issue. It's not "Is he good right now" that's the problem. It's more "Will he be any good next year? or the year after that? Or after that?"
Because if you trade for him, and he falls apart, you're screwed. |

He isn't winning the Norris, but even at 75% he is better than most second pair Dmen in the league. I don't think anyone is worried too much about how he will play in the tail end. The guy is one of the elite dman of his generation and unlikely to just fall off the map. |

I think everyone is over-valuing Duncan Keith. If he was on an expiring contract (as Timmonen was if you want to compare) then absolutely Stan could ask for the moon and get it.
As for the rest of the core with NMC's, they would dictate where they would waive and that would be where they have a chance to win. So what does a first round pick look like in that situation? It would be equivalent to what we got for Hartman. - 67hawks
FWIW JZ at the score on Keith:
Duncan cover -- I believe Duncan Keith played his worst game as a Blackhawk on Sunday night. His effort level was clearly lacking to anyone paying attention, and his "ole" of a checking opportunity allowed the play that left Crawford with a concussion to happen. I’ve said it time and time again on the Madhouse Podcast: It’s the Blackhawks' core that needs to pull the team out of this funk. But too often, it’s been the veterans pulling them deeper into the depths. It would be understandable if Keith had just simply lost a step and couldn’t do it anymore, but there has been a blatant lack of intensity and urgency to his game that I’ve found troubling.
I know some think his trade value would be better at the TDL, but the more teams watch him play this season I’m not so sure. |

At this point I bring Forsberg up and you ride him and Ward all the way to the basement. Bringing up Delia to get peppered every night will not prove anything and even when they get spectacular goaltending they are giving up 3 and 4 goals a night. You don't want to ruin that kids future with this dumpster fire of a team they have right now. |

Exactly. Its stuff like that, that spills over to other players. Especially the younger ones. Get picks/prospects and cap relief and start prepping for the off season. I dont blame guys like Keith and Kane. They are stalwarts that helped win 3 Cups, but there comes a time when change has to happen. Well its now. |

If that happens, the team buys him out of his declining scale contract. (Or trades him to that semi-pro outfit in Arizona where he can wear shorts to work for 2 or 3 years and ride horses with Shane Doan).
At the TDL, Keith would likely be the most sought after player in the league. And there are loads of injuries on NHL bluelines these days.
The Hawks need to sit tight on Keith until early February and watch what happens. Listening to the used car salesman on this board with their Grade 5 Marketing diplomas makes no sense right now. |

2015 DC > 2018 DC
But 2018 DC > any other defenseman in the Blackhawks organization.
As bad as the D is now, it’s going to be worse if he ever gets traded or injured. |

You move him sooner if his play/attitude becomes a detriment to the team and player development. Grade 5 marketing diploma!?!? Geezus. The core as a whole needs a get it together talk. You are the leaders. LEAD! |

Weber, Price, Shaw and Keith on the Habs would be very fun to watch. And if they drew the Maple Leafs in a playoff round I don't think Babcock would feel real comfortable. And Auston Mathews and Marner would be going to the ice pack after every game.
Shea Weber is a mean mountain man, ask Anisimov. And you don't run his goaltenders either.
Claude Julien doing a great job there. |
