Scott Darling with $1 million retained for future considerations.

You will have to do better than that. We are in a position now to milk the other side. Maybe Stan can get his shorts back?

Black Hawk fans. Just inquiring, what do you guys think of Patrick Kane's play this year? Is he slowing down? Does he need a change of scenery?
- sabreadvocate1

Kane is getting his points, but his engagement on the ice is not looking 100% all year. I think he took the whole coach Q thing badly and it seems a bit like he knows they aren't gonna win, so maybe he isn't going 100%.

I think he is adapting his game a bit as he is no longer the younger guy, we've see less individual play from him and more wait and dish the puck to a teammate. Still a great player, but we used to see more of the desire to beat guys 1 on 1 and I think he is entering a phase of his career where he will just need a bit more support from his line-mates. Like a true vet, he knows he can take his time and pick his spots more.

I think as Hawks fans, we pretty much have to admit at this point everyone who was part of the core has peaked. Not saying guys won't continue to be productive, but probably we've seen their career years. The Hawks need more young players to take over bigger roles.

I am still blown away at the lack of any kind of response after CC got bulldozed. I watched the replay. 100% intentional. I don't get it. Is the locker room that bad that nobody sticks up for a teammate? Geezus.

Don't know what caused Jones to leave the game, but in my opinion Kane must have had revenge on his mind. This soft team is all on Q,he never liked to have a physical team.

THey were all intricate parts, but when we look at the Hawks fan base, they are constantly reminded of Kane's playoff moments and it's a bit more tangible. The true hockey people on this blog and throughout the fan base know the importance of all the guys named and know it wasnt just Kane.

My point is, I dont think we can combat the trading of Artemi Panarin and what that meant to Kane's career trajectory by saying we gave you 3 cups and 10.5 a year, deal with it. He has constantly been thrown table scraps to make work year after year.

- nickmo2699

That is true about most of the team. Keith and Seabrook have had some awful partners. Crawford has had some awful D in front of him. Toews has had an ever changing cast of 3rd and 4th line wingers for large stretches. The team just doesn't have depth. I think they've all had to deal with it.

Great post! Losing Panarin severely altered his trajectory. He had two insane years with Bread on his line and if the Cat keeps getting better and Strome continues to improve, we may see him back in the low 90's.

I was inquiring to see how he is playing in case the Black Hawks wanted to move him for salary cap reasons. Sometimes a change of scenery refreshes a player. He has been a big part of your stanley cup wins. Imagine if there was no cap, the team you guys would still have today.

Mrazek's been okay. Dude came up swinging after he got slashed yesterday and then posted a shutout, so that was fun.

What? We can always just bury him in the minors and buy him out when the season is done.

Right!!!
Maybe the guys were not aware of what exactly happened at that moment but they surely would have known by the time they left the dressing room after the intermission.
I have watched this team through good times and bad. Even when we were bad, the team was watchable. When stuff happened there was payback. The poor play combined with this unresponsive softness is disgusting.

Toews, Kane and Keith still have gas in the tank, need to give it one more shot and go balls out to win before languishing in cap hell for a few years. I'm cool with that. This year Hawks are playing themselves into an excellent chance of grabbing Jack Hughes. With Toews, Hughes, Strome and Kampf they would be as strong up the middle as they have been in years. Fire sale Seabrook, Anisimov, Kunitz, Kruger, Manning, Ruuta and anyone else ASAP to free up additional cap space. Sign Panarin (27) and Karlsson (29). Go into next season with

Saad-Toews-Debrincat
Panarin-Hughes-Kane
Perlini-Strome-Sikura
Martinsen-Kampf-Hayden
Keith-Karlsson
Forsling-Murphy
Gustafson-Jokijarju
Crawford
Ward

Could that team have the talent to win a cup in next 2-3 years?

Kane is still a great player. He isn't flawless. We've seen mistakes, but he still creates a lot of offense. I think he'll be that 75-85 point guy for a while yet. I think if the team was doing better, it's give him a shot in the arm.

It just tells me that they have quit. They are done. It also speaks to the zero on ice leadership and yes 19... that's you. The only guy on the team with any ball$ is the Cat. All 507 of him. Need a big shovel and start digging. How does nobody respond to that?

I disagree. Q has always had a tough guy- Walker, Eager, Burish, Boynton, Mayers, Carcillo, Broadbank, Scott, Weise, Mashinter, Shaw, Bouma, a guy with “jam.” I think Kunitz and Manning were brought in for this reason.

It's so easy for you to sit with hindsight and criticize moves that when at the time they were made would have been screaming the loudest if he hadn't made the deals.

Imagine the angst and vitriol of a large number of people on this board if Kane and Toews had walked. People were appalled at the contract given to Crawford, until they realized he was worth every penny. Of all the long terms & salaries given out, Seabrooks is the most alarming, but i don't think anyone could have anticipated his fallover coming so far and so fast.

- TheTrob

Let's all call it for what it is. Talon buildt this team and it's farm system, not Stan.

Stan took over a dynasty team that was buildt with solid young talent and throughout his tenure he traded off prospects and picks for rentals or over valued players with no real track record of being anything more than what they already knew they where.

He was so vocal about how the salary cap was affecting this team from making any major julym1st signings , so he had to instead find value from older players onm1 year contracts while giving out ridiculous raises and contracts to guys like Bickell or keeping guys like rosival or handzus , then trading away key young players like denault Shaw, tevo., panarin.

Stan is supposed to know better and his job and the ramifications from his decisions or lack thereof.

He could have offered Seabrook a contract of lesser term for starters or let him walk.

What team if Seabrook walked was going to pay him that kinda money and term? And if a team did then they would be dealing with his decline and bad contract.

All good things come to a end and 12 years into a player is a long time.

You'd have to think that is on the minds of the guys in the Locker Room too, which is certainly not good.
- nickmo2699

Whoever in the locker room that has it on his mind should have done something about it during the game - not stew about it after.

While we don't know the severity, I'm wondering if we maybe saw Crawford's last game.

It would be a sad end to a solid career.

Hope he can bounce back.

Id be interested in Seabrook and Keith in a package. But that's a huge cap hit along with many years of it. In terms of Keith Id be willing to part with a 2nd rounder for Keith( at full cap hit). Anything more then that id pass. No way am I including Sanheim for keith. No way . No how.
- jmdodgeser4

lmao. Timmonen fetched 2 second rounders with nothing left in the tank. Keith, who has declined, still offers a lot more.
