Haha HawknD. Our lengthy conversation about prog rock like Genesis, Yes, Rush, etc. notwithstanding, I've been doing a hardcore type punk thing the last day or two. I mentioned wasted youth to you and have been listening to their albums a lot lately, after not listening to them in 10 years. I've so enjoyed it, good to get back into just hard, aggressive 4 chords pissed off screaming music. It's awesome. lol - kwolf68
Was about to comment on your Wall and sobriety post when that little weasel Fiala scored.
Saw Waters twice in concert, once doing Dark Side at the UC and the other was him doing the Wall up here in Detroit (the Palace). Was pretty sober for the Wall (couple a beers)...not so much for Dark Side.
Both great shows. I was far enough back that it could have been Gilmour singing and playing lead...cept this guy was thin. |

That's my jam, right there! I've been on a U2 binge of late, them and Police. - I Am The Breadman
Yea, love prog, but I am totally into ANYTHING just about, as long as it's rock based. I don't do electronic, disco, modern country, but anything else is fair game for me.
I like high tech prog rock like Yes, Rush or Dream Theater (more metal) and also like 4 chord simple bash it out punk and everything in between. Though my absolute first love is actually thrash metal.
U2 is great, but I am not a "true" U2 fan in that I don't like all their incarnations. But their early stuff and their post 2000 poop is really good. I think Joshua Tree is a masterpiece. But you can have Zoo. |

I saw Waters for Dark Side at what used to be Tweeter Center. I think I was 6 or 7. Saw Waters for The Wall about 8 years ago at the UC. Snowy Winters might not be Gilmour, but he is still no slouch. |

Cubs going to partner with Sinclair Broadcasting in their own network.
Partnering with Sinclair - that oughtta make the radical far-right-wing old man Joe very happy. - StLBravesFan
Why do you continue with these stoopid statements? |

The "replacement" NEVER is. I like Gilmour because I think his attitudes and philosophy about music and guitar playing are spot on.
Edit: MUCH more fun to segway into music instead of freaking politics (and lemme tell you I GOTSA opinions politically, especially on science and environment, but Hockeybuzz isn't really the place to really delve into them). |

Have you seen Beyond the Lighted Stage? Great Rush doc. Agree on U2. But Unforgettable Fire goes above Joshua Tree for me, same with War. |

From a bad angle.
It’s amazing how many perfect shots opponents score on shots straight on to the goalie - and the Hawks shoot right at the goalie on the other end.
Make a save. - StLBravesFan
That's the thing, fiala didn't shoot it right at the goalie, he sniped it into the uppermost top left corner......sometimes, give the shooter credit for a REALLY well placed shot.....even if he couldn't do it again with a bucket of pucks |

Gilmour's one of the greats...for me anyway. Can't remember if Snowy White was playing when I saw those shows. He is good. He played on one of Thin Lizzy's last albums before Phil Lynott died. Loved TL! |

They showed BTLS on Spike or some channel, it's really long, but really good.
Unforgettable Fire is really kinda a forgotten record, other than Pride (in the name of love) what big songs came off that? A nice under the radar nugget. I got that cassette from a girl I was dating who was BIG TIME into stuff like U2. She turned me onto U2 (and other things). |

Hell yes, ANYTHING Rush does live is mastery. Such an amazing band. They showed BTLS on Spike or some channel, it's really long, but really good.

Bad! All time favorite song of theirs. Homecoming and Unforgettable Fire, cool music video. Definitely under the radar. |

Was more a Boy and October fan. They had good songs after but I got kind of bored with them. Disagree with Wolf on Zooropa. Didn't love it but I give them credit for taking a risk and liked "Lemon" and whatever that Edge song was.
A little like Radiohead. I give them credit for taking a risk on Kid A and liked it but anytime Thom and the boys want to something that's more the Bends or OK Computer I might listen again. I'm sure they miss me. |

Listening to Bad now. Each have their faves, "Perfect Circle" by REM is my all time favorite song by them BY FAR, most wouldn't pick that one. "Bad" by U2 is clearly off the path. |

I hear you Hawk, I "respect" U2 immensely for that effort, as a former musician myself I "get it", it takes balls to do poop so divergent from the typical sound, but U2 didn't care, they tried something else. TOTAL! RESPECT! Doesn't mean I gotta like it though. LOL. |

You don't know jack about me and what I've done, studied, learned, discovered, so carry on and continue being as douchey as you can be. As I CLEARLY stated this is not the forum for such discussions, nor will I engage in them such as it concerns my discipline. |
