As an erudite member of the Hockeybuzz community, I assume you understand that 'freedom of speech' refers to the government's ability to limit speech that is in protest of the government and/or it's policies?

Association, businesses, or communities like Hockeybuzz, can, and do, exercise restriction of the speech of their members.

Well said! I can’t even mention on social media the name of the company and work for without getting prior permission from the company.

On a goofier note Ryan Hartman is Connor Murphy’s landlord.

You ship your #2 defenseman, after 2 cups, when the core is still dominant?
Bickell at $4M was not a bad deal. He was a 1LW, power F that the hawks needed. Hell, Frolik got a deal for $4M!! It was the market.

I disagree with what you're saying, but that's what causes the discussion. I think if Stan tries setting a precedent, he doesn't get 3 cups.

What?? Bickell was never a number 1LW. He had a one good Playoff run on a line with 19 & 88. Pretty easy to do. The rest of his time here was not good. Way overrated by Stan again.

Stan never sniffs the Playoffs without 2-7-19-88-50. So Stan landed on a pile of gold to start.

Watching Columbus last night, sign me up for Josh Anderson. I know he has had some issues with Torts earlier this year. Adding him and Jake Gardiner would be very good as far as NHL players to compliment talent that is there and the youngsters.
- nickmo2699

AA 4th for Anderson ? Thoughts. As far keith to Edmonton unless pulvariti or nurse coming back then they don't have much. Buffalo Philly toronto are better options.

Another thing to consider with the Hartman trade is that even if Ejdsell is a bust or at least becomes a Hawks regular in a lesser role than expected, the team could still benefit from that trade as they gained 2 draft picks which were used to select Beaudin and Kurashev.

For all we know, all 3 could be busts or all 3 could be hits. Here's hoping at least one realizes his potential. Beaudin may end up being the best player out of all 3 with Kurashev possibly being poised to 2nd best.

- AEL_Fox

That is an excellent point. For Edjsell, I was hoping he'd be beating some goalies with wrist shots this year and even if he isn't the complete package, he'd have a shot they'd need to respect.

I have a really good feeling about Kurashev.

I really don't think Edmonton would let Nurse go for Keith, unless there was more to it. The 23 year old is really still improving and I can't see them moving him unless his next contract demand gets insane.

He's on a bridge deal now, and that took awhile to get signed. Nowhere near Nylander long, I will add. I see him asking for more as he's getting better. It could get insane (in the membrane!)

Maybe he gets...less. Maybe none. I don't recall any of the Hawks Cup wins being givens or a Sunday stroll in the park. A bounce or two the other way and they are looking at still being winless since '61.

Besides, didn't Seabs pot a few game winners in the '15 run?

Sorry, but Seabs game wasn't already deteriorating in '15 and after Keith's superhuman performance provided the only other stable dman in that Cup run besides Hammer. Trade out Leddy for Seabs in the '15 Cup run = no Cup period.

Cubs going to partner with Sinclair Broadcasting in their own network.

Partnering with Sinclair - that oughtta make the radical far-right-wing old man Joe very happy.

He could have won the Conn Smythe in '13 and was a huge factor in that Cup win. He also had a good playoff run in '14 and was one of their more productive fwds along with Frolik in '12 when they lost to the Yotes. It's a shame when facts ruin a good narrative.

If he hits potential, a possible comparable range would be somewhere between Backlund and Frolik. Would love a Backlund type of center who plays a strong two-way game, provides offense, and is able to tilt the ice on a regular basis to benefit the team. I'd be happy with a Frolik comparable, too, and could be the more realistic outcome.

The thing with Frolik's career path was that he was projected to be a 1st liner but ended up being a solid 3rd liner. Similar to Cleary after the Hawks drafted him in the 1st round. He was a bust as an elite forward yet find his niche as a good middle 6 forward particularly on the Wings.

I don’t know about that and not interested in sidetracking the blog towards politics.

But one thing that Rocky should find troubling according to a report in the Athletic:

Sports Media Watch also reported that the Blackhawks had a major ratings decline last season. They averaged a 2.39 rating on NBC Sports Chicago, a 28 percent drop from the previous season and the team’s smallest average since their first playoff season under Joel Quenneville in 2008-09. Again, their TV audience isn’t growing with the Hawks in next-to-last place in the Western Conference.

Conn Smythe? Funny stuff. 19 & 88 carried his dead weight.
6'4 soft as Charmin

Guy was a waste except for a handful of Playoff games

Shame when guy could have been better but was pretty much a bust & overpaid by Stan

Kahun gets a great opportunity, doesn't capitalize. Hartman pushes it the other way, and gets several opportunities with Johansen.
