He was the first guy I thought of, but I think the odds are heavily stacked against.

I guess Laviolette and Babcock should forget about it then since they have won with other teams.

Kane has the third highest ppg number of his career this year. Pretty sure he's not a problem or having a down season or wherever.

The bottom six are bad. Kruger, Martinsen and Hayden may be the worst 4th line in the league. But they try really hard so apparently that counts for something.

Their defensive group is bad aside from Murphy and Jokiharju which is just embarrassing for the front office.

They don't really need to clear salary right now and Seabrook moving seems kind of difficult and i don't think the front office has it in them to make that lopsided of a deal. Same for Keith. Realistic return is minimal at this point.

Trade someone cause they ask or because they're a problem in the room. Any other reason at this point doesn't make them better or get significant pieces to rebuild.

The factoid that is actually amazing this year about Kane is he has his numbers without feeding on the PP at all. The Hawks’ PP is so freakin’ bad it gives a fan a headache. What do the Ghoul Granato and Scotty Smith bring to the table - NOTHING.

Laviolette's problem is Rinne. Babcock's problem is Tampa Bay.

Whats a haul? Flipping JR, Belfour and Chelios did a whole lot of good. The only trade thar really paid off for them was moving Savard for Chelios and getting like for like player calibre.

Trading Kane for late first round picks which they've had meh success at doesn't help them get another elite player to fill that gap or build around.

Thinking back a couple of years before that - there was Olczyk and Secord to Toronto, for Vaive, Thomas, and McGill... that one was a decent trade as well.

Wouldn't trade Kane, there's no point.

Carrying this over from the last blog:

Please. Because you and the other posters are both Neurologists or MDs I’m sure. Regardless of what you think of Bowman, McD, or anyone in the Hawks FO, if you think that he would be back on the ice at anything less than 100% you are just foolish and full of yourself.

His play hasn’t been great, and that can be due to a 10 month layoff, horrible support from his teammates, or maybe even just not playing well and/or having doubts about himself.

It didn’t look good and this may be the end for #50

- TheTrob

So if someone seems to be slurring his speech I need to be a Neurologist to notice? So if a goalie seems to react slowly to shooters moving fast, leaving his net totally open, I need to be a Neurologist to notice? So if a goalie seems to react better to more stationary shooters, where he can play on plane, squaring up, I need to be a Neurologist to notice? Please.

Crawford was struggling statistically and by eye-test, no matter how you cut it. He was not himself. So he was either still symptomatic in certain areas or he sucked - your choice.

You better read some of the stories told by ex-players and players concerning how concussions are treated - the pressure a player feels. There have actually been players who passed protocol who clearly should not have, continuing to play, then being removed from the line-up later. I thought it strange that Crawford went from having setback after setback after setback to suddenly being ready to play overnight.

Whoever was on the blue line(Who (frank)ing refused to play the body) , was that Keith? Caused that whole (frank)ing play to happen.

Being physical matters in hockey , no matter how many times you guys say the game has changed blah blah blah blah, the whole damn league is comfortable running into Crawford, taking liberties at will. (frank)ing Keith , only gets a little physical when his feeling are hurt. Cant wait for them to trade Keith.

Its pathetic when DeBrincat is the toughest hockey player on the team.

- mrpaulish

Well said.....and I totally agree with Enzo as well. Duncan "No Compete" Keith needs to be moved for the best offer out there. He can still be a top dman when he wants to be and that's been my gripe about him for years. How can he win the Norris one year and then not be mentioned as a top 10 dman in the league the next ??? And NO to those saying he was been injured.

He should return a top prospect and picks at the very least. He now has become the only player on this team that can bring valuable future assets. Now NO on Crawford due to injury and NOBODY wants Toews or Seabrook.
This situation gets worse by the day. Very Sad times for sure.

I have watched videos of post game interviews with him all year. He was always halting in his speech, but he paused longer and his pace was slower this year. Was he just being more deliberate because we sucked? Or was it his head? I don't know, but I for one came away concerned for the guy.

I make and made my observations about Crawford out of concern for Crawford. If he was attempting to be an elite NHL goalie while attempting to fight through issues I did not think it was fair to him. It is hard enough to be an NHL goalie. Also as you say his interviews caused me concern. Now the concern is maximized - let’s hope for Crawford’s health as that has always been the only issue.

Can Seabrook collect his paycheck in Rockford and no longer count against the cap? It would be a kick to the nuts, but at least he won't be embarrassing himself in the NHL anymore.

Only if he waives his NMC.

If he agreed to waive, only the maximum amount of league minimum salary plus $375,000 can be removed from the cap. In this case it is a total of $1.075MM per year. Team takes the cap hit for the balance each year.

So....that's not happening.

Too true, Bread, too true

Best case, his AHL success carries over and the Hawks find they have a bona fide NHL goalie on their hands.
