his comment on gardiner was basically: 'yeah, we would like to discuss new contract with him, but we have other issues to attend to first' - in other words: first matthews and marner (and kapanen?) will need to be resigned, and then we'll see how much is left for Gardiner.
btw - and unrelated: after next season, Taylor Hall is an UFA.

Can someone explain to me why it's totally fine and seemingly encouraged for opposing teams to take runs at Leaf players? How is Brouwer's hit on Kapanen not even a 2 minute interference penalty??????????? Or, kneeing???????? Or late?????????? What the fu**? No suspension, but you watch. Some Leaf is gonna get suspended again for far less. Leaf fans need to speak up about this poop. Media idiots like Gord "plunger face" Miller isn't gonna do it for you because they are all afraid of looking bias...which of course...makes them bias.

i have a hard time seeing how having a tough guy in the lineup improves on the 21-10-2 record.
but there is probably a better chance it hurts more than it helps
