Safe to say that there is no "toughness" coming to the Leafs. I am happy about that.

so takeaways: Dubas says toughness is a team thing, adding 1 player will not have a significant impact (wouldn't that be the case for all deadline additions though??).
and gardiner is the least of priorities - kind of a 'nice to have next season, but wouldn't count on it'.

I honestly think some of you guys will learn that Gardiner plays a more important role than you think, next year (if he's gone).

If one of the youngsters can take the spot and play well, then great, but I'm not as optomistic as you are.

He just says he doesn't buy it and when you look at successful teams they aren't built that way.

and what I picked out from Gardiner is that he is a priority but with the amount of high quality D men that could be available this TDL Dubas will want to see what happens then first. Which is a given.

He is a fantastic number 3 D. If Dubas can't land a Petro, Parayko, Vatanen type D I think he is resigned for sure.
