This team is getting on more hot streaks than cold streaks and that's a good sign. The perpetual whiners on here refuse to acknowledge this but this team finished last season on a decent run, followed by a smoking hot run to start this season, followed by that ugly losing streak after a massive amount of injuries and right back into a hot run after players returned. 3 hot runs vs 1 crap run in the last 4 months of hockey played. Canucks have beaten many of the best teams on this run.
Instead, some "gem" that fell out of a smugglers ass says it's ridiculous to give any credit to Benning and this team. I see the Canucks are trending in the right direction but it's simply a blind squirrel metaphor from him? The whiners feel threatened.. a lifetime of work on hockeybuzz starting to look like it's a hard sell to the patient people.
The whiners should stick that in their narrative and smoke it. - boonerbuck

I can understand the dislike for Benning especially in his early years but you are probably fighting a losing battle. I see Aquilinis tweets and he loves this team . He gets so excited you wonder if he peed his pants. The general support on Twitter by the media and fans has really changed this year to a positive. No one is dumping on Sutter and Guddy except the diehards in here.
I think complaining about JB is a waste of time now.
Like I said the other day I am happy to see him draft day and that is all I need to see him. - VANTEL Iāve defended Guddy from the beginning. I actually quite like him and what he brings. Sutter not so much but I donāt have the level of dislike that Lefty has for him.

Iām the opposite of you lol. I think Sutter is a fine checking line player, I think he would be an asset on a top team as well. Gudbranson to me is a 5/6/7 type dman on a team with legit cup aspirations.
All we can do is agree to disagree though.
It seems like after every winning streak the āits not so badā narrative gets pushed hard and after a losing streak starts itās back to āso whoās your fav prospects in the 4-7 range?ā |

That hit that Guddy had last night had the fans buzzing at the arena. |

BS
How many 2 round picks have the Canucks had playing on their team in the last 10 years? You are speculating. Demko was drafted in 2014 and he is just beginning to be ready. That means at the most one or more two second round picks would have changed everything? - VANTEL
Itās not BS. You just donāt know how to read. Codes suggested that the rebuild might have been āsped upā by a year or two had Benning not traded picks for players (who by the way did not help the team win). I said that the rebuild would be in the exact same place as it is now, except they would have 3 or 4 more prospects who would now be pushing for spots. There would be 3 or 4 more Demkoās, Lindās, Wooās playing in the AHL almost ready to make the jump. Maybe they bust, but you canāt tell me you wouldnāt rather have more prospects almost NHL ready than less. |

I see CA is looking for some writers, might be a good opportunity for you to get your feet wetter. |

If the best argument against trading for more picks is that our scouts canāt ever find NHL talent in the 2nd and 3rd rounds then this team has bigger problems |

They crazy thing is weāre still a playoff bubble team. We have two factions in here. Tankers and pom poms. I understand that we need to lose for Hughes but we really are not bad enough. We are also not good enough for a playoff run. Which puts us in a bad spot picking. I just want to see my team win and I think they can keep doing it. I still hope we are sellers at the deadline. |

not meaning to pick on you here Reuby, but this response sucks. Personal opinions shouldn't be reflective of a specific group, but rather the individual of who is writing that said post. I dont know what disliking Gudbranson and liking Sutter has to do with Canucks Army (I don't read their stuff), but could it just be that Nucker has a personal opinion of them rather than his opinion being someone elses? I like Sutter, indifferent of Gudbranson, like Leivo/Gaudette/Sutter, who's writing does that align with? |

In general, I agree with This, although I believe there is another group that isn't in the pom-pom or tanker group, just that they want to see the team play well, win or lose and if a top pick is the result so be it. This group has no playoff expectations, but do want too see some cleansing of the roster. |

My comment to Nucker wasn't meant to be offensive in any way, as I have stated fairly recently, that he would be a good blogger for the Seattle team.
I respect Nuckers opinions, whether I agree with them or not.
Pretty sure Nucker new what I was refering to.
Thanks for your concern though. |

To me itās never been about bottoming out in the standings. Theyāve already done that a few times lol. Itās always been about the (lack of) long term direction. The fact that theyāve accidentally tanked multiple times is not impressive. I donāt buy the stealth tank nonsense. Itās up there with #FlatEarth #HollowMoon
Then thereās the smaller things. Our CHL scouting, our management/pro scoutingās lack of ability to find good dmen(insert Gudbranson argument here). Overpaying players and spending close to the cap when that cap space couldāve been used to take on a bad shorter term contract.
On the bright side, this is the year Iāve been least frustrated. Letās be honest, itās mainly due to how great and fun to watch EP is. And Benning deserves credit for drafting him for sure. If Hughes turns out to be a top pairing dman then it starts to get easier to look over mistakes in the past. But eventually theyāll need to make a move to bring in a GM who can help this team take the next step imo.
I know this post is going to annoy some people, and thatās fine. Iāll just end the discussion here from my side and let you guys continue if you wish to.
TLDR: Still donāt like Benning as GM, but if his first round picks pan out then heās done enough good here to give the next GM a chance to build a good team which means he did OK. Scouting staff needs change, specifically in the CHL and pro level. |
