Your criticisms were warranted. This team is where they are mostly by mistake. I'm waiting for the annual fall off the cliff in January. Tiny Jump has your pom-poms waiting.
- Marwood

I am not saying my criticisms weren't, or that I won't continue to criticize moving forward, but whether or not anyone wants to admit that the team is at a point (perhaps what we see now is what we should have seen year 2 or 3, but thats not worth dwelling at this point) where they are playing fast, responsible, exciting hockey with an established new core. That is what we all wanted post-sedin era. I could go over a list of trades and acquisitions and signings that I still to this day dislike, and none of that will change, but i won't jump on mob mentality of hating Benning in here for the sake of it. I am also not jumping on on the pom-pom train either, I don't think this team is making the playoffs this year, but I think that they are doing some really exciting and positive things that is finally what we have asked for the last 6 years.

The people complaining the most are still the ones that wanted to tank year after year (which they got) and they are still complaining now.

They aren't fans, just trolls with nothing better to do.

There is no need to eat crow. The team can both be on the right track, and still be a ways away from being an elite group. It was Gemsey I think who summed it up nicely that finishing so poorly so many years will naturally bring high end players. Those players have been a bit of a surprise, but it was bound to happen.

Gudbranson is still a terrible hockey player who can’t complete a pass, has no offensive vision and plays a lot less tough than people give him credit for. Can he be playing ok right now? Sure, but that doesn’t mean you were wrong.

finishing poorly so many years in a row doesn't always equate to naturally bringing in elite or high end players though. Look at EDM. If it wasn't for McDavid, they would still be the at or near the bottom of the West.

Gudbranson will never be my favorite, and I will always see him as a fringe or bottom pairing NHL defender, but everyone has to pick their spots. Its hard to criticize his play this year, hes played some pretty good hockey.

Never did I say that none of those mentioned were void of any criticism, or that they can't be criticized moving forward. There are lots of trades and acquisitions that I don't care for, but with that, there are some that have worked out tremendously well. I don't think giving credit where its due is being ridiculous.

This team is getting on more hot streaks than cold streaks and that's a good sign. The perpetual whiners on here refuse to acknowledge this but this team finished last season on a decent run, followed by a smoking hot run to start this season, followed by that ugly losing streak after a massive amount of injuries and right back into a hot run after players returned. 3 hot runs vs 1 crap run in the last 4 months of hockey played. Canucks have beaten many of the best teams on this run.

Instead, some "gem" that fell out of a smugglers ass says it's ridiculous to give any credit to Benning and this team. I see the Canucks are trending in the right direction but it's simply a blind squirrel metaphor from him? The whiners feel threatened.. a lifetime of work on hockeybuzz starting to look like it's a hard sell to the patient people.

The whiners should stick that in their narrative and smoke it.

Here’s my take, if JB hadn’t traded away all those picks he acquired by moving Bieska et al, nothing would have been sped up. The team would be in exactly the same spot they are now. There would have been some different stop gap FA’s to fill in the spots where Sutter, Goody etc have played. But, they would have 3 or 4 more potential quality players pushing for NHL spots right now than they do.

You are mistaking elite talent and team building. Hall just won the Hart trophy. They had a lot of high end talent, but had no idea how to manage them. Sure, they blew chunks on Yaky but what’s changed in the past month? Not McDavid.

This kid would be a nice goal scoring winger for Horvat

http://www.hockeydb.com/i...s/pdisplay.php?pid=187102

Or this kid

https://www.eliteprospect...layer/251448/tye-felhaber

Both overagers, that in my opinion, would be worth a spot.

What if those picks never pan out at all? Then you are 3 years after picking to find out you have to wait another 3 years for another to develop?

I was just going to ask you if you wanted to talk about it over a latte

I would like that very much. The oilers fans were well behaved last night. For the first time this season I didn’t have to throw a soy latte

I have very little issues with this years progress. The kids are learning what they can do. They are still 2-3 years from contending and that is why I don't mind Sutter sticking around. Leadership

And how is that different from the current situation? For someone who spends (wastes) so much time reviewing draft eligible players that’s a pretty pessimistic response.

BS

How many 2 round picks have the Canucks had playing on their team in the last 10 years? You are speculating. Demko was drafted in 2014 and he is just beginning to be ready. That means at the most one or more two second round picks would have changed everything?

Team controlled play other than the first 5 minutes of the game. Full marks for the win. Thought EP and boeser struggled but with their talent it doesn’t seem to matter. They will find a way to contribute even on an off night

I can understand the dislike for Benning especially in his early years but you are probably fighting a losing battle. I see Aquilinis tweets and he loves this team . He gets so excited you wonder if he peed his pants. The general support on Twitter by the media and fans has really changed this year to a positive. No one is dumping on Sutter and Guddy except the diehards in here.

I think complaining about JB is a waste of time now.

Like I said the other day I am happy to see him draft day and that is all I need to see him.
