Pretty much. Hearing about the Jeff Carter retirement threat, his hit would to the team he was on when the contract took effect (CBJ), rather than the signing team (PHI). Odd technicality.

There’s quite a few guys that are scheduled to be a UFA after this year though who we might be able to get without giving up assets
Stone from OTT would be tops on my list
30goal scorer who skates well & is one of the better defensive forwards in the league

This year- 16g in 34gp...
on pace for 39goals, and over ppg again

Basically...
he’s a really good scoring winger
And is awesome defensively as well

John Vogl: No Matt Tennyson for the Sabres today as Brendan Guhle and Matt Hunwick will be in the lineup. Nathan Beaulieu is out with a day-to-day upper-body injury. Linus Ullmark will start in goal.

I don't see Berglund voluntarily agreeing to void his contract though. He has $12m left on the contract and he's unlikely to make that much money on future contracts. I think he'll say that he's very sorry, and that he's ready to be a team player now. If they're trying to void the contract, the Sabres are going to have to try to find language in the contract that the relationship is irreparably broken, and that they don't believe he's likely to honor the standard of play. I'm not a contract lawyer though, I only play one on the internet

I wouldn't call it voluntary...but at his current pace, he's a buyout candidate headed to europe.

If his end goal is to preserve his nhl career, getting his contract terminated now may work out in his favour.
