Its getting to the point they need to pay me to go there. The prices are cheap now. Like 50 bucks lower level seats and I would normally be all over that, but not now. Im not sitting through that dumpster fire. |

I refuse to spend any money on this team, till they re-establish their identity. |

How would you feel about spending money to watch them if they announced they're going into sell mode and a subsequent rebuild? |

Oh, I am watching, just not paying. They still are and always will be my team. |

If they cleaned house, including the coaching staff, and sold off every vet sans Giroux...I think I'd like it more than what we're getting now. I'm not saying call up the entire AHL team or throw prospects to the wolves, but this team has the individual talent to be a top-3 Metro team. For whatever reason, from top to bottom, they're playing uninspired, gutless, vanilla hockey, and a minor trade for a goalie is not the answer. There needs to be a MAJOR shakeup, more than just a new coach. If they moved Jake, Simmer, Gudas, Laughton, and pretty much every other player over 25 sans Giroux and brought in 6-7 new faces...I mean, can it get much worse?
Edit: My parents are getting my little girl and I a pair of tix to the Calgary game 1/5. This is more a present for her than me, as I could care less, but she really just likes going. |

I think they could hire Quenneville, move Simmonds and Voracek and still get better and become more interesting.

I only ask that because almost every great team bottomed out and got a great player at some point before they won in recent years. I don't think they'd have to spend much time at the bottom because we have such a good prospect pool already but it might lead to better things.
Then again, there are no guarantees! They did get very fortunate to get the second overall but another top three pick would be nice in a top draft. |

Let's say we miraculously won Hughes this year.. even if we dont finish last. Would we suddenly become cup contenders ? No. I dont think so. Look at toromto still struggling some with the rest the NHL elite cause they have gaps on defense. We still have major gaps in goal and defense. We would get more exciting but not vault us to cup contender. |

Like an actual rebuild, not a half assed one? I'd be ok with it at this point. But then again didn't they just say the rebuild was taking too long?
I think we're going to see wholesale changes but I don't think it's going to be a typical rebuild. |

What would a rebuild entail ? You already have pieces to be half way through. Trade Jake simmer jvr weise lehtera raffl weal amac gudas for whatever the best offer is. You still have tk Patrick g coots provy sanheim gost etc. Even in a tear down we shouldn't be bad enough to get a top 3 pick. |

How many years has Edmonton bottom out?
It's great to think it will help but didn't this team just luck into Patrick? I think some changes are needed but I don't think this team needs to bottom out.
I hate to say it because it sounds like a MJL post but this team has correctable issues. Goaltending has been bad. That might take something outside the team. But if maybe a coaching change can bring better play from guys currently here I could see this team still making the playoffs.
I don't think this team NEEDS whole sale changes. I FEEL that maybe they could use one like moving Voracek. But this team does have some talent. It just needs to start playing like it does.

I noticed Dave Isaac changed a slight but critical piece of wording in his article from Quenneville "has accepted it" to "will accept it". Gives me hope that the contrary reports are just deflecting from what happening behind the scenes. |

But here they are in that position. And I don't see JvR being moved. I also keep Raffl he's useful still. The rest i would do my best to move. The key is the returns. If you get a sniper for Jake you already helped this team a lot. |

I could see us pushing jvr to Seattle. Hes a player worth putting on a team and we can send a pick to ensure they take him over one our kids. I dont see Jake getting us one unless it's a team like Ottawa who is having trouble getting people to resign so they need someone who already has term. Chicago why would they want him? They if anything want a rebuild prospects picks better for him. St Louis I hear is shopping tarasenko cause they are tired of his lazy plays and constant coming into camp out of shape. Why would we want that? |

If Chicago is serious about a rebuild, could we do a package centered around Kane for Voracek? Jake is signed for 1 more year, but costs $2.25M AAV less per year and has a lower average total salary over his duration as well. If we could do that deal deal without including any of (prospects-wise):
Frost
Farabee
Myers
Hart
2019 (unprotected) 1st rounder
Then I'd do it. |

I think before you trade for a goalie you bring up Hart for a game or 2. The only way this team will truely bottom out is if you trade Giroux, and I'm not down for that. Trade Voracek, trade Simmer. If you cant get the team going with what you get on the return then after the deadline bring in Hart, Myers, Morin, Voroboyov, etc... to finish the season.
This will hopefully show us some of what we really have. And hopefully Q will be able to get Panarin here. As a matter of fact, if Q comes here we almost become a favortie to land Panarin.
I could totally see Jake for Stone and Anderson and Conditional pick to see if we can get this year going. Then signing Panarin in the off-season.

I don't think it's a plausible option as they're not interested in losing money, Dave Scott and company that is, I'm just wondering in a hypothetical situation if people would support that. |
