If I were Hakstol I would just quit. I couldn't even imagine trying to keep your sh!t together after all this.

It's Q. No it's Gordon. No you're not fired after all.

If Hakstol is indeed coach, I wouldn't be surprised to see Detroit drop a 10 spot on them.

- Pelle31Forever

If they didn't tell me I was coaching for the rest of the season, I'd walk the (frank) out

At the very least put out a statement. "No personal changes have been made. Dave Haskol remains our coach as we continue to try and improve our team." Simple.
- hereticpride

Hakstol still won't have the team if they really hadn't quit yet. This poop will cause it.

Whether you think the coach is at fault or not it's clear that this team is dysfunctional and for whatever reason they aren't going to play for this coach. What justification could there be at this point not to make a change.
- MJL

This is PR nightmare. The absolute last thing this team needs right now is this distraction.

All we can do as fans is wait until Holmgren or Scott or perhaps both make an official statement.

My only explanation for the Flyers denying the firing is because they planned to do it Monday all along and a leak isn't going to change that plan for then. I guess it sucks for Hakstol in that case to have to go along with it all and pretend he's still the coach but realistically if he wants his money what other choices does he have.

Rational fans will listen. Most of this fan base are going to lose their minds no matter how this turns out now.

The only way you can even try to pull this poop back together is a massive transaction tomorrow, where you say it's not the coach, it's the players -- and they have the rest of the season to get this poop figured out

Because if that man coaches on Tuesday at the WFC without that kind of backing? WTF. He can't coach the team if everybody thinks every single time they lose, he's getting fired

Yup. Now all the players are going to be asked about it. Cue Mikey Miss. Cue Barkann. Cue the fans who have a right to be annoyed by this mis-management.

Stand behind him fully or cut him loose. He's got 4 years here. There doesn't need to be an evaluation period. You know what you get with Hak.

For what it’s worth, I got this response 15 mins ago from a Flyers exec regarding all the coaching hoopla: “Dave Hakstol is our head coach.”

- hereticpride

Then that flyer exec should be following Ron Hextall out of a job....the worst part of this is the fact that it’s clear as day he deserves to get fired....how many listless performances does this team need to have before they get a coach fired?

I don't know anything about journalism or the ethics behind it, but how can a reporter be this incompetent? Wouldn't you double or triple check your source's story before posting it?

If Hakstol is still coaching, yes. If Q is in fact the coach I think they'll all breathe a sigh of relief.

Being first with the story is king in the digital age. Isaac gambled and lost.

He should address it too. He put out that piece and hasnt said peep since.

If the source was high enough it wouldn't need checking. But I'm thinking he wasn't supposed to run with it yet.

Pretty clear that Hextall was the glue holding the organization together. A couple big wigs in suits got their delicate feelings hurt because a couple of alumni felt “uncomfortable” and Hextall wouldn’t share his thoughts/plans with the brass.

A bunch of gutless c-suite level garbage. Now look at this latest circus. This organization is a laughing stock.

This is also not how you treat Dave Hakstol. I’m not a fan of a lot of his moves but he has remained professional throughout this circus and that goes a long way with me. What a joke.

Hak will be fired, everyone just jumped the gun expecting it to be as he stepped off the plane. He won't be behind the bench.

Exactly -- what the (frank) are you evaluating? How well he uses Phil Varone? Are they kidding us with this garbage?

The man either had the horses to win this season, and hasn't, so you fire him.

If you think it's all Hextall, then he doesn't need to be evaluated by Fletcher until season's end.

The only ridiculous way to do it is to try to split the baby, where you kinda blame Hextall but you want to see what Hakstol's like, too -- who the (frank) thought that poop was gonna work with the Flyers on their fourth and fifth goalies of the year and out of the playoffs?

You would think in the next couple hours this will all get resolved. At the very latest Monday morning.

He deserves at least that. Perhaps the new GM knowing most fans figured he was gone after last night should of had some (frank)ing balls and met with the media. A simple comment after the game...”we are still evaluating everything and for now we having nothing to announce”. ....but the new GM refused to meet the media.

Dave Issac reported it as a done deal and everyone else disseminated it accordingly.
