This team couldn't beat their meat right now if they tried.

@BiggE calm down. Stolarz played 2 games straight that is not a ridiculous expectation. Many goalies do it on a consistant basis.
- xShoot4WarAmpsx

No, it’s not a ridiculous expectation under normal circumstances. However if the guy had back spasms earlier in the day and is less than a year removed from major surgery, you err on the side of caution.

Still might be good enough to beat the Rangers though.

Who is the Phantoms goalie behind Hart right now anyway?

It was a stupid decision, no other way about it. I don’t care if he is cleared medically or not, if you care about the future success of this team you don’t do that to the kid. It’s asinine.

Simply a desperate move by a coach trying to save his own ass. He may have just forced the team into trading for a goaltender. We shall see.

He rides his goaltenders into the ground, someone said that earlier in the thread today and it couldn’t be more true.

In our last 8 games:
1-5-2 20gf 38ga

We’d be lucky to beat an ECHL team right now.

Exactly. He handles goalies about as well as you’d expect a blind man with Parkinson’s disease to handle explosives.

I thought he had a meniscus tear? Didn’t he have it fixed once before and it tore again? It looked like his left knee again. Maybe his meniscus is too thin to properly repair? That’s a big heavy guy putting a lot of stress on that knee. I know we’re all pissed at the Flyers and looking to blame someone, but this injury seems blameless. I feel bad for Stoli. Looked like he might make a decent backup in the NHL.

You try to avoid playing healthy, and in their prime goaltenders in back to backs.

Not a kid who apparently had back spasms all day and has barely played any hockey in the last year.

I really would like to see him get one more home game. Doesn’t really matter at this point I’m terms of the standings. It’s going to be a house of hate, and it would be a beautiful thing to see.

As far as I know, and could be totally wrong - but it was deemed a LBI no? Body always compensates when under stress or is injured in another part. Things like this ARE often related.

Is what it is. Sucks for Stolarz, I’ve liked what he has shown so far. Great size for the position.

I sat through 06/07, when they were the worst team in the league. I dealt with it, and we had guys like Kyle Calder, Randy Robitaille, Alexei poopnik, and Forsberg miss 762 games. I was okay with it, because the team had no talent.

This is inexcusable. For the first time since I was 10 and heard about this Lindros guy, I really have no interest in this vanilla, noncompetitive team.

I'm as hard as anyone on Hak but honestly I would've rode Stolie too. They are in desperation mode and had he started Lyon yesterday to the same result we'd be knocking him for starting an AHL goalie in a must win situation.

I am just hearing about the Stolarz back spasms now. If that's true then that changes things but it's not like the spasms are what took Stolarz out of the game either.

Don't be so hard on yourselves. You would probably beat at least 2 teams in the AHL.

Flyers medical staff are basically the equivalent of Dr Nick from the Simpsons most of the time.

That's wrong. The Flyers have a full time medical staff that monitors and continually looks after the players. They also get recommendations from the physicians and orthopedists they employ. With any patient, feed back is critical. Stolarz has started 7 games this season.
- MJL

I'm not equating this to Berube v Mason, but Stolarz has played 9 games in a row.

Also, let's not forget this is still a business:

What's worse, the current Flyers team or the prequals? Episode III is on right now and I honestly can't decide.

Natalie Portman might have the edge.

If it's not they should fire Fletcher, Holmgren and Scott.

Like I said before, my biggest beef with Hextall is the coaching situations. Assistant coaches included. I could live with his failures roster wise a little more if he had handled the coaches better.

I can't get over Joe Mullen, especially.

How about Jeff Reese?

There is a difference in plans though.

I could tell you to go through the door by continuously ramming your head into it until it breaks into splinters and you can get through.
Or I could tell you to twist the doorknob push the door and walkthrough.

One of those plans is stupid and one is not.

Every nhl coach has a different plan to win a stanley cup, occasionally some are stupid.

There is a general consensus around those who follow the nhl that Dave Hakstol’s plans have been stupid.

Some players fit better in certain plans than others so maybe our players fit another coaches plans better.

It is simpler, easier, and faster to change the coach than it is to change the makeup of the team through trades.

Hakstol is the third longest tenured coach in flyers history but hasn’t won a playoff series or division title.

Please feel free to continue to blame the players but to focus on them rather than the coach flies in the face of conventional wisdom, general opinion, statistical evidence, and rational thinking.

Numerous people have reported our interest in Q and his connection with the fletcher family but yes Ek is only one I've seen say decisively q would be here.
- Tfaehner

Thanks. Just desperately searching for any reason to watch this pathetic mess right now.

I expected that the team would dominate the league after that incompetent dictator hextall was fired! Sarcasm!!!
