If they can somehow trade A-Mac and a 2020 1st for Keith would you be interested. Sure he's not the d-man he used to be but I would want a guy like him around the younger players.

No, I wouldn't be.

Great read, and yeah this probably isn’t the type of team that Quenneville is best for. However, Quenneville is no dummy. He can use the rest of this season to get a read on whom to keep and who Fletcher should be looking to deal.

I get what AntSan is saying, but I disagree. Anytime you have an opportunity to land a coach like Quenneville you do it.

Bottom line is Q is a PROVEN winner at the pro level....I don’t think this is a guy Hextall would have hired. The Flyers are a better team already with out Hextall. Boy that didn’t take long....(unless this isn’t true, then never Mind).

So does Q ride out the coaching staff the rest of the year or does he make some changes and bring his own guys in?
- funmaster18

Dineen and Ulfie on their way too I'd expect

I'd have to imagine it would be hard to find replacements mid season. Might have to ride it out with this crew.

I'd imagine Wilson stays on as an assistant for the rest of the season. Lappy is definitely gone though.

Ek was right about Q. Now you gotta wonder if there is any truth to the Flyers/Blackhawks dealing like he was talking about...

Why because he was wrong about Hextall and Hakstol and the organizations undieing loyalty to their plan...I’m sure he’ll admit he was 100% wrong.

I meant the hiring of a permanent coach may come after the break. The firing should happen ASAP.

Very sorry....

Agreed

And Q playing veterans is very subjective.

First Chicago traded picks and drafted low during his tenure so he didn’t have the wealth of talent pushing to make the roster that we have.

Second the roster of talent Chicago had at the time would make it hard for anybody to break into that roster. Kane, Toews, Sharp, Hossa, Ladd, Madden on offense. And on defense Duncan kieth, Brent seabrook, Nicklaus hjalmarssen, Dustin byfuglein, Brian campbell.

Third, quennevilles system is considered to be aggressive especially for defensemen which is the opposite of Dave hakstol so it would it would stand to reason that ultra passive defensemen like Macdonald and hagg would either be forced to change how they play in order to fit the system or be replaced by others who can.

Last, It’s much easier to trust the talent evaluation of players by a coach who has won 3 Stanley cups than a coach who failed to win anything in the ncaa and his replacement took his team and won everything with it.

Want to build a championship caliber team, start with a championship caliber coach.

Hak should have been gone awhile ago and no later than Hextall firing.

Fire GM check

Fire coach check

Now time to fix the on ice mess.

I don't blame Hak for most of this, I blame Hexy but something has to change.

A lot of blame to go around. Regardless, at least they are trying to fix this mess.

If it's Keith they are after I wouldn't mind the move. He's an experienced player who's won it all several times. He isn't the same player he once was but I feel like if paired with Provorov he would still be a better option than A Mac in that role. Who would we rather have as the veteran guy all our young d-men should be learning from, if it comes to Keith vs A-mac then I'd definitely choose Keith every day of the week. It all depends on the cost though obviously. If you could possibly get them to send you Keith for A-Mac and Rubstov would you do it ? I definitely would.

I've watched a lot of Quenneville over the years, from St. Louis through Chicago

His record speaks for itself. No one needs me to tell them that

The one concern I have is the blindspot that developed as he got older. Once, he would play young players without hesitation and let them grow through their mistakes. He was demanding but patient

The older he got, though, he was less patient with young players unless forced. He became like every other coach: Young players make mistake, down to the 4th line or scratch. Low minutes. Veterans who make mistakes keep on keeping on

The one exception was Brent Seabrook. I gave Quenneville credit for scratching him when he was bad. But he only stopped playing Patrick Sharp after he was well past his due date, and he still tried to have him play with Kane for way too long

Does he still have it? If he does, he could be the best thing that has happened to this organization since Hitch came back and ended the coaching carousel of the late 90s-early 2000s

If he doesn't, we're (frank)ed -- and we're absolutely (frank)ed if we don't get a goaltender, because Quenneville's teams can trade chances and give up high-danger opportunities
