Babcock was the reason he was traded. - RogerRoeper
Meh. Who cares.
Also, it was reported that dubas had said to leivo that he would move him if he wasnt gonna get more ice time.
Maybe he just kept his word. |

But the 4th line is struggling since he left.
And not fitting into Toronto's top 9 is crap. He's clearly better than guys in the top 9.
Remember when Kapanen was on the 4th line last season? - RogerRoeper
Uh?
Who in our top 9 is he better than?
Hint.
NO ONE. |

A meh player, probably not much.
Id prefer senheim, younger, more upside imo.
But i doubt the flyers move him.

I'm so happy the contraversy is over which journeyman depth guys we cut loose because we have half a dozen all stars on the roster. - Zezel
Kapanen was a depth guy last year. Remember that.
Just because Babs doesn't view Leivo as very good does not make it so. |

Leivo just wasn't good enough to be an everyday player for the Leafs. That's elite company though and hardly makes him a bad player. |

neither of those 2 goals he has scored for the Nucks reminded of Pavel Bure - both goals insanely dirty and lucky...! - 21peter
I don't want to nitpick here, and I don't really have a stone to throw in this argument although I really like Leivo as a depth player, but I would like to point out he's actually had 3 goals as a Nuck now, not two.
Just so the facts are clear |

He's excellent defensively and plays with an edge; he's also an underrated puck mover and good skater. He's a younger better modern version of Polak. |

Love the way Mike has handled Kasperi. Really helped mold him into a top 6 player that we are seeing this year. Wasn't ready for that role last year, so good on Mike for working with him and putting him on the 4th line where he could steadily grow.
Leafs made the exact same mistake with Corrado and Carrick. You just can't let great players slip through your hands. |

Babs had him in the lineup every game, thats pretty good after signing JT and promoting Johnsson who seems better then Leivo by my eye test.
He wanted more then 4th line mins which he wouldnt get or deserve imo
Good on the Leafs for doing him a fav.
What site do you use for CF% as you said he was 57% last night? |

He was given a chance EVERY SINGLE DAY he was at the rink.
It didn't work out. People need to get over that. |

I just looked at the last 5, was sure he didn't play more than 5 for the Nucks - time sure flies

Seriously though, they never game him a chance. Drafted in 2011, what's a guy able to show in only 8 shorts seasons? You try showing how good you are in only 8 years. |

Nucks are 4-1-1 since Leivo has been in the lineup
Leafs are 2-2-2 since the trade.
This tells me everything I need to know. |

What do you guys think of adding Wayne Simmonds at the deadline? Flyers are probably going to want a prospect close to the NHL rather than a pick. Simmonds and a conditional pick for Liljegren? Condition being whether you re-sign Simmonds or not. - hereticpride
I love the idea of Simmonds but the Leafs are not going to trade from a position of weakness (D-men, notably a right shot) for a position of strength (top 9 forwards).
