They're screwed with it because the coaches don't know who to put out now
They tried it with Voracek and Simmonds again last night on PP1, after trying TK and JVR. It's gotta be brutal, because it feeds on itself -- the coaches can't keep putting the same unit out there that isn't scoring, but the changes aren't working either - AllInForFlyers
Changes in personnel aren't what is needed in my opinion. |

I think the PP is the easiest to fix. I just don't understand it. - MJL
My best idea at this point is to use a combination of hypnotic suggestions and positive reinforcement video to say “shoot and it will go in.” “Score again and again and you will win.” See these many times you have set up, shot, screened, fought for rebounds, second and third chance shots and scored. Watch and do!

For the record: I actually liked it when Hakstol put Giroux with Patrick
I read all the negativity with Patrick, know some think he's gonna bust
For me, I see a player who thinks he has less time on the ice than he does because the game hasn't slowed down for him yet. The puck is off his stick too quickly sometimes. I am hoping they try Giroux with him again tonight, because if anything, Patrick could stand to see what it's like to hold onto the puck for a little longer |

Ek has us tied to Duncan Keith now.
Not sure I like that... - hereticpride

Well he held onto last night and an Oiler pole checked it off him nearly into our net. Too lax there. The ice is a pit of snakes for him now |

I completely disagree. Gostisbehere is made for 5 on 5 play. Supported with the right players, when he is on the ice the team he is playing for will score the majority of goals. When he's right his ability to move and transition the puck as well as make plays in the offensive zone are elite. He's just in a major funk right now along with the rest of the team. - MJL
The great 5/5 player is -15 in 30 games. If he is right, if with the right players, if the team is not in a funk. A lot of ifs. I’m not down on him he is what he is. But all the so called “elite” skills you mentioned are easily outweighed by his defensive liabilities which I don’t see changing significantly. You tend to overvalue Flyers players as many fans do. That’s part of the reason why it is so hard for so many to accept how bad this team really is. |

Would you believe...on the bus ride to the airport after the game.
Then he has to fly "Coach" home.

I'm hoping for a Flyers victory, but maybe another loss will finally get Hakstol and his coaches fired? The Flyers have been brutal to watch lately. If Ghost can't score, then he's useless on the ice because he's not playing much defense. How many times does he shoot the puck and miss everything? When will Jake stop trying to make impossible, "Hope" passes and actually make a decent pass? I would like to see Jake shoot more. JVR looks like he doesn't want to play in Philly and looks like he regrets signing w the Flyers. Simmonds should be on the 1st PP and put Jake's left hand shot back on the 1st PP, too. Move JVR to the 2nd PP. Stolarz has made some great saves to keep the Flyers in the game, but team defense has let him down.
I know that Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome, but I'm hoping the Flyers have a good game tonight. |

I'm not overvaluing anyone. You're analysis of Gostisbehere is not correct in my opinion. Last season, Gostisbehere was one of the top point producers among all NHL defenseman. When he was on the ice the team controlled play and the team scored 56% of the goals. That is one of the highest totals in the league among NHL defenseman. He has his weaknesses but they are diminished by his elite puck skills and production in a normal season.

Id really like to see Ghost paired with a rangey defensive d man. I think he wouldn't have to try to do so much then, which I think might be one of the issues now. Maybe Morin as a future partner.
Also, stronger team defense would go a long way to help out our defensemen too... |

Truthfully? They didn't intend for it, and they probably won't try, but they might as well for this season
Something's not right with this team. It's not just the coaches, the goaltending
Something's not right with this team, and while I will lose my mind if they do it, I can see reasons to strip this thing down for parts - AllInForFlyers
See, I’m saying tank because I think what you guys are asking for isn’t realistic. I don’t want to tank. I do think the season can be salvaged. I do think it’s a coaching issue. This team is getting by on the talent of the skilled players on it. Not by the savvy smarts of the coaching staff.
I think it’s about making a coaching change. If you don’t see a spark or jump within the roster, that’s when you point the finger at the players and move on.
What does blowing it up do? More unfamiliar faces and we’re back at square one? What’s unrealistic is, you guys want to win and bring in as much prospects as possible at the same time. You want to trade players and magically believe a draft pick will make the roster better.
Either tank and commit to the rebuild or make the god damn roster better! For me it starts by removing the coach. |

This core hasn't done anything for going on 7 years. Yeah, they haven't had a great supporting cast by any means but at the same time it's hard to envision things magically turning around at this point with these players.
I think they need to make at least two considerable moves to turn things around with this roster. Whether it's moving prospects or moving on from Simmonds or Jake they need something new, and substantial. |

pretty sure that's the year they traded for Mason and he started outplaying the cosmonaut and the Flyers piled up a decent amount of FAKE points to distance themselves from the bottom 3 teams but short of actual playoff positioning |

What should this “something new” be? Should it be something new at random or have a plan? |

Last night was one of the worst viewing experiences I can remember with this team
I'm sure there have been worse. I know there have been. But last night was right up there - AllInForFlyers
How was last night the worst? Do you suffer from short term memory loss? I can name a number of worse games that what we saw last night:
Game vs Isles
1st Meeting with Buffalo
1st meeting vs San Jose
When they were Shutout vs NJ
Game VS Jets
Last night was rather tame |

No coach can survive with a team playing like they did last night -- I'm actually mildly surprised that nothing happened late last night/this morning
They looked that bad last night - AllInForFlyers
Nah If it is gonna happen it will happen tomorrow morning. Personally I keep Hakstol unless Q is signing. I really dont feel anyone else out there offers anything that can fix this team. I think a trade is more likely. |
