On a good team he is a 3rd pair PP specialist getting far less TOI than he gets here. - Djapana
I completely disagree. Gostisbehere is made for 5 on 5 play. Supported with the right players, when he is on the ice the team he is playing for will score the majority of goals. When he's right his ability to move and transition the puck as well as make plays in the offensive zone are elite. He's just in a major funk right now along with the rest of the team. |

What is funny about that? G will be diminishing returns, period. Frost is in juniors and not close to exceptional can't miss. And Konecny appears to be a 25 goal guy.
Exactly what I think they would want, minus Girouxs salary.
K? - DrMidnite
I just want to clarify, you really just said Giroux, Frost and TK for Marner?

Even with the goalie carousel goaltending has been far from the main issue this year. Team defense and consistent effort remain the two things namely killing this team. - hereticpride
Is it fair to say this team has lost its identity? When I do get to watch the Flyers it used to be tough physical hockey but they had skill....didn’t see any of that last night |

Last night was one of the worst viewing experiences I can remember with this team
I'm sure there have been worse. I know there have been. But last night was right up there-AllInForFlyers
It hit me after the Winnipeg game and again last night...if there was a 1 to 5 scale for feelings after a loss,
1 - being mildly disappointed, but seeing some positives
2 - disappointment, made mistakes and shot ourselves in the foot
3 - disappointment mixed with frustration, we did so much right and so much wrong
4 - much frustration, calls for changes
5 - utter disappointment, frustration plus anger
Too many fours and fives already this season has lead to all new categories. It’s a slippery slope we are on...apathy, fear, faith, revolution.

This team really hasn't had an identity since Lavi got canned. They've tried to become a solid 200ft team but they just haven't had the depth or all around talent to compete that way.
They definitely aren't the physical in your face Flyers of the past but then again that's just the way the entire league has gone. |

And the easiest way to get that game changer is to draft them, but no one wants to do that.
Not even first pick necessarily but maybe have the best chance to get a good pick like BHawks and Toews in 06. Move guys for younger ones consistently, that is how you last and weed out lesser players.
We are not winning this year or next. Accept that and GM accordingly. - DrMidnite

Bill, very random question. Does the guy who does the intermission report for the Flyers on the radio(his name is escaping me right now) do any other sort of media coverage for the Flyers? Along with yourself he seems like one of the more knowledgeable hockey guys in the town. |

I don't know but I'm guessing when it does we'll be able to tell if it's Fletcher leading this team or if it's Homer.
From what I heard from him, Fletcher has said all the right things (or at least things I agree with). |

Play .500 hockey til the Xmas break probably. That's certainly possible. |

No coach can survive with a team playing like they did last night -- I'm actually mildly surprised that nothing happened late last night/this morning
They looked that bad last night

Not with where they are now
Keith just needs to play fewer minutes and on a second/third pair, but he's still a good player for the most part |

Pass. Only contenders should go after him. |

A coaching change is not something that is made with a back to back game situation on the road. |

I don't agree. I think, on the balance of the season overall and not segments here and there, goaltending has been the single biggest issue. |

Sounds like it’s time then....our commentators said he looks like a guy who is just waiting for something to happen....already got the new GM and by the looks of things it sounds like it’s time for a new voice in the room....could help....look at us right now

Agreed. If they had been getting quality goaltending from the start of the season, they’d likely be quite a bit higher in the standings right now. |

They have a two game break so maybe. The biggest break is over Christmas but that would be cruel. Comes with the territory though. I also think a new coach would like to have a few practices.

I don't think there is any doubt about that. I agree it's a major issue but really good goaltending would just be masking a lot of issues. So I don't quite agree that it's the number one issue. Repeated and correctable mistakes in both coverage and puck management to me, is the single biggest issue with this team. Far less talented teams have played a stronger team game.
