What else are you going to give up besides Frost for Marner? - MJL
2 roster players of their choice that they can afford to win in the next few years.
Minus Patrick or Provy. Yep I'm serious. |

What is funny about that? G will be diminishing returns, period. Frost is in juniors and not close to exceptional can't miss. And Konecny appears to be a 25 goal guy.
Exactly what I think they would want, minus Girouxs salary.

I can’t remember in 40 plus years of watching that I have been so in different watching this team. Even when they finished last a decade or so ago....I could find reasons to be hopefull. Now my hope is based on substantial changes. - landros 2
Even when they finished last, you could see the beginnings of something a little different -- Richards and Carter just needed more time. Gagne was fine, Coburn looked good when he got there, Giroux was killing it in junior. They had a ton of cap space coming
They clearly needed help, but they were just bad because of a lack of talent in too many spots. When you're bad like that, you know that almost everything you do makes you better
This team shouldn't be this bad. Everybody knows it. The goaltending situation and PK are atrocities, but they shouldn't be this listless, this soft
To me, you at least get a point last night if you just came out there and played a littler harder than Edmonton, got a break or two. You just had to come out there and compete
They didn't, against a team that had played the night before |

I have a question for the guys trying to move Simmonds. What kind of package do you think you could get for Simmonds who isn’t doing much?
In my opinion, the Flyers are hurting Simmonds. Do you guys really expect Simmonds to play well when he’s stuck with Jordan Weal, Scott Laughton, Oskar Lindblom and the inexperience of Nolan Patrick? You’re all expecting Simmonds to succeed with these players because this is never going to happen. Simmonds has only been seeing sometime with a Sean Couturier or a Jake Voracek lately.
Even James Van Riemsdyk isn’t gonna succeed with the bottom 6 players I mentioned. Simmonds and JvR are scorers. They are only going to succeed with playmakers but for the first two months of the season, the playmakers are seeing most time with each other. |

Has there been a time this season where a goalie played back to back games? Maybe Elliot? |

I am not married to anything, we are not going to win ANYTHING without a GOALIE, and apparently we feel no need to do anything on that front at all.
I wish we could have FLYERS SHARK TANK |

I understand Simmonds is one of your favorites, and I understand why. But how he looked last night is exactly why they can't extend him for four, five years -- he looks like a player who when it goes, it's all gonna go
He's the kind of player who, at this stage of his career, needs to be traded to a contender and then hit the market |

1) The main thing with Frost, apart from continuing to add strength, is keeping his feet moving to take advantage of his speed. I don't say this lightly: he is the best playmaking prospect to come through the draft system since Giroux. Elite ice vision and passing ability. Whether it translates to the NHL will depend on what I wrote above: he has the natural speed but he has to play with pace consistently.
2) Even if Konecny is "only" a 25-goal guy, he's a young and cost-controlled one for some years to come.

Probably pick and player or prospect. People around the league know what kind of player/person Simmonds is regardless of how things are going for him currently.
I've often said every team in the league could use a player like Simmer. I also feel a contending team might overpay a bit too. |

I don't know how long he will last but in my opinion, the signs are still clearly there with Simmonds.

Honest question: Do you think he's going to grow out of his tendencies to be loose with the puck and coast on defense, cheat in the d-zone?
I can't tell -- sometimes I think he really cares, takes it seriously. Sometimes he looks like a guy who wants his numbers |

Make no mistake Bill I do not mean to antagonize, just frustrated.
I really think lucrative NHL level talent does not grow on trees. And if Marner finishes in top 10 of points and will need a contract Toronto cannot afford, we should trade anything (within reason) we can to add that.
9 years younger than G.
But I get it, no guarantees. Which is why the front office is paid so much.
Do something to inspire these fans! Right?

I think Simmer is moved at the trade deadline to a team that thinks they may only be a piece or two away from going for the cup this year. I think the return will be substantial....now Simmonds has to stay healthy....and the Flyers have to stay terrible.....if those two things happen, I think he may be gone. |

Isn't Simmonds on pace for around 30 goals again?
I'm going after Liljegren in Toronto. You might have to include Gudas or a conditional pick to get it done but to me that would be a fantastic move going forward. Righty D with a high ceiling and not far off from the NHL. |

If they don't work harder than they did last night, that's a good call -- Vancouver isn't the most skillled. But they can run you out of the rink if you don't work, because far more often than not, they're trying to outwork you |
