Looks like the only cheerful thing in the Flyers universe right now is the lil future Flyers playing elsewhere. Nice goal Zamula! Good win Phantoms.

Every day this drags on it is going to get worse and worse.

I wonder how much more other teams are asking for their players after every lose the team looks like this. The players look like they are stressed out worried about whether they should sell their house.

I still dont think keeping hasktol was about giving him a fair shot. I think it was lack of a better option. Nobody wants yeo not even fletcher. Coach q probably isnt rushing back. I think if they could of upgraded they would of but it takes 2 to tango.

Same answer with trades. Every analyst keeps saying prices are sky high atm. Wait for them to come down closer to the deadline. Once people cant get what they want they may come down some in the pricing.

Lastly I dont know who would even help this team. A lot of the options out there arent 2 way forwards and defense has been our issue as well as I will question the leadership group. In a perfect world we would get a top 4 defenseman but price would be at least a first and a prospect for them.

All jokes aside he sounded like what I have been thinking for years. It was somewhat refreshing to hear a player voice the same frustration as the fans, finally acknowledge that the players see it too. What made him sound even more crazy was that frustration was not because they are going through a rough patch or a bad season, it's because he is straight tired of going through this poop year after year after year.

Someone said last night Voracek was the problem, fair enough, but remember this team and these same issues have gone through other players through the years with the same results. He point blank called out the coach AND this organization for not correcting these same issues for 4 years. The problem with this team isn't about getting a new goalie or another defenseman or another forward...it's about having a group that actually plays together as a team for once consistently. This team could be half as skilled, but if they played as a unit and were on the same page every night we wouldn't be talking about how crappy this team is.

This is very true. Look at right wing as a prime example:

You have Konecny, Voracek, Simmonds, Weise, Raffl, Weal and call ups like Varone.

Place them where you think they can play to their strengths, pick four best fit options. What do you do if that leaves out Simmonds or a developing player like Konecny?
At this point, it really is addition by subtraction because you are not forcing players outside their ideal roles.

Edit: I am not for trading players 23 and under unless you are getting back the same with at least equal upside.

I saw a tweet that stolarz was clapping the ice with his stick to let hakstol know he should be pulled for extra attacker? Is that true?

unless they are trading guys like Simmonds and Voracek for similar trades that brought them here I really hope Fletcher doesn't trade for veteran players at the expense of younger players. this team is too far away. IMHO the first step is firing the coaching staff and see what a new voice can do. look at Edmonton and bringing in Hitch.

Agree 100%

Other than the upcoming inevitable coaching change, I can only see 2 personnel changes in the near future. First, if Elliott reaggravated his injury, they need to pick up a goalie. Even a veteran backup, which shouldn’t cost much, would do. Second, auction Simmonds off to the highest bidder at or near the deadline.

Synergy - a whole that is greater than the simple sum of its parts. This team is the exact opposite of that term right now. The parts, generally, are good, but the sum of those parts produces LESS that what the sum ought to be...and continues to do so consistently.

I can only surmise that the team has totally quit on the coach or has an internal cancer that has not yet been identified externally.

It's so sad as a fan. Was very hopeful that this was the year that the work and patience put into the last 4 years was going to start paying off. I believe in the youth of this team. I also am of the opinion that G needs to be here to help turn this around (again). However, the time for roster and coach changes is now.

Jake - I've enjoyed him as a Flyer for many years, but what happened to the Jagr look alike who would dig for pucks, carry, and shield the puck in the O zone to open up time and space for other players? It's gone. Defensive lapses were a given, but without the magic brought in the O zone with the dominant puck possession - it's not enough to justify the cost.

Wayne - Can't justify the cost and term for what is now a lesser of his former self. I don't see the next 6 - 7 years bringing more than what he is today, so pass on the big dollar contract that he'll get this off-season.

JVR - Is he regretting his decision to come back? He looks like he doesn't care at all. If I were Fletcher, I'd be taking calls on him.

I called out these three specifically because they need to be leaders right now - not followers, or worse, passengers. I'm just not seeing that in their on-ice performance.

However, to end on a positive note - @Bill M - you are the reason why I continue to come to the site. Thank you so much for all the effort and hard work each and every day! Your insights and matter-of-fact writing are invaluable to us fans.

Yeah but lineup changes and who plays where is the easy part. This team seems to want to play a basic responsible style and the players they have just don't work well together. The Flyers just don't excel at anything. They are not fast or balanced or big or tough or hard working or creative. They are built to be as generic as possible. They need to figure out how they want to play before they know which kinds of players they need.

For all those advocating for Quenneville. Why would you think he wants to come here?

Hakstol is brainless when it comes to this. There was a recent game where they were down and the first line had clear possession in the o zone. Under 3 minutes. He wouldn’t pull the goalie.

Only 2 teams in the entire NHL, both in the Western conference, have fewer points and a worse goal differential than the Flyers.

Yay us.

FFS, fire Hak. If you don’t have a replacement ready, make Holmgren the interim coach. It would be a fitting punishment for him! Also tonight’s game, the 3 scratches should be Simmonds, JVR and Ghost, and let Lyon start. Stolie doesn’t deserve the torture of playing behind these clowns in back to back nights.

In nearly a half century of following this team, I’m as disgusted as I’ve ever been. This is a flat out embarrassment!

I remember back in 06, when we were this bad....but it really only lasted a year or so...the apathy and lack of accountability is astounding. Say what you want about old man Snider, he never would have stood for this. I used to trust that the organization would do everything in its power to fix things....I no longer feel that way....and before someone points out this is how Stanley cup teams are built....save it, that’s revisionist history....the Flyers through all there ultra aggressive style over the years were within the very realistic grasps of the Stanley cup multiple times....how close are we now ?

Why did he want to go to the Blackhawks when they were a hot mess and made the playoffs once in 11 years?

Why did Babcock want to join the Leafs when the whole organization was in complete restructure.

Why did Trotz want to leave his Stanley Cup winning team?

How many teams who are winning and are in good shape need a new coach?
